the blue chevy in ttc 2006

now i just thought of this(probably wrong but its worth a shot) but maybe by him just runnin blocks instead of ginormous leaf springs he reduces alot of his axle wrap. mayb what everyone is thinkin of as stupid is really ingenious

Actually blocks would give more leverage to the axle to induce the axle wrap. The pivot point of the axle is farther from the pivot point of the spring. The longer that distance the easier to wrap the spring. It is the same effect as adding a cheater bar to your breaker bar.:D

I think if I were going to model my build after something, it wouldn't be a truck that came in consistantly last in nearly all events. That should be a clue right there.

that thing is pretty much useless unless its in mud.

Seriously. 56" tires and he had to get dragged out of the mini-rubicon? Please...

:haha:

Man... spitting a block(s) while that high in the air would be scary. :eek1:

I remember reading in the mag that the blocks were welded in place.I will dig up the mag and qoute the exact phrase.

well i think alot of the misfortune came from the truck being carburated(in the mini rubicon i think he stalled 18 times in 19 minutes) . other than his door i think two traction bars and the winch was all that broke?(ok so i just reread that and that is abit but nothin too serious broke) i think when i start preparin mine that i would rather link it than run 12" blocks or at the worst just have some ginormous leafsprings in it. but i really just like the truck. mayb because im a teenager that drives a big suburban myself but theres just somethin about it that tickles my pickle

but unless its going to be just for mud, its useless because its way to big for most trails and definitely for rocks

yeh i see what your sayin and 95% percent of the trailage i know around here is mud. but i definetly understand what your gettin at. sometimes big can be to big

yea for mud bogs im sure it works pretty sweet, it was the only truck to finish the 143ft mud pit, but it did terrible in every other event. tire size is definitely not everything. 42's would get the job done in the TTC on a rig that is built to be more versitile for the events. if your thinking about TTC eventually, erase this truck from your thoughts. if your just going to mud bog it, learn from it and make it better.

yeh i would definetly love to be a part of ttc someday. so what would run my suburban well? i already have a 468 on the way and a 4spd 205 in the works. would i be set with 2.5 rocks? coils or air shocks? ahhh so many questions!?!?

yeah it definitely shine in the bogs, but IIRC his carb screwed him over in the mud pit event. so basically the only event he was to shine in, he got screwed.
