The Cheap auction find

I will be interested to see what you think with the windows up. I just pulled the original cat and muffler off of my '95 and did a single 3" 50 series flowmaster. I do have my son's topper shell on it right now, but it has some panel vibrations , which i think is the back wall of the cab, about 2200 rpm. I didn't do a tailpipe yet, since I was suspicious of the decibel level of the muffler.

The back plastic panel of the cab on this one vibrates in the 1500-2200 range which is where this truck runs the most so it’s something I need to find a solution for. It’s nice not having the exhaust laying on the trans and torsion bar crossmemebers now though. I’ll go take a window up drive here shortly just to satisfy some curiosity

Why did you buy headers? You seem like a manifold kinda guy. If you needed a set you could of posted and I would have sent you a non cracked set for the cost of the ride.

Well crap that’s unfortunate! I went with these due to them being cheap and a friend of mine that had them liked them a lot. They’re on there now so no going back

I'm late to the party this time, but I'm surprised you'd look at the old oil burner. Weren't we talking about finding a cheap LBZ not too long ago? :dunno:

And for my curiosity, what turbine parts does it have? $500 is an alright price if you get the whole turbine setup. The coolest sounding 135 horsepower on the planet. :haha:

Sad to hear you’re pulling the 454, I always wanted an L29 454 truck but have never came across the right deal for one when I had the funding. So TBI will have to do for now! I’m actually thinking of going backwards by most people’s standard, there’s a 6.2 and all the necessary turbo parts for sale at a friend of a friends place for $500. May be axing gas power all-together once the 350 blows

But with 4.56 gears and 40's, I do kind of need the lower first gear. Someone said that the TH400 and 205 that I would be way worse than my current 700r4/208 combo for gearing.

That "someone" is correct. A 3.06:1 1st gear run through a 2.61:1 reduction yields a drive ratio of 7.99:1. The Th400/205 combination yields 4.96 in low range. Which is significantly less gearing than my NV4500 has in *high* range. It's pretty close to your current 2nd gear. So if you want a real-life comparison, imagine always starting out in second gear.

I liked my former 3.08 gears and even I wouldn't make that swap.

No idea what turbo or anything it has. The engine is Ex-military I believe, he stumbled into a few of them

Send me one if it has a turbo!!!

I haven’t got a clue if he even still had it or not! I have a feeling this trucks 350 is going to outlive the body. Hit some pretty nasty washboards a week ago and the rear cab mounts have now poked through the bottom of the cab. So as much as I hate to say it this trucks days are numbered. I’ll drive it until the front end dies, or the engine blows then yank the NV4500 and 14 bolt

Meh, who cares just a stupid gmt400 anyways. Just crush it now and put us out of our electrical misery

There’s billions of these trucks out there yet. There’s usually atleast 10 for sale at any given time within a 50 mile radius. This ones just at the Slykhuis farms retirement home, where old trucks can come to live out their last years.

Been there, done that, gotten tired of it. Anybody want to buy a diesel squarebody?

And since we’re talking truck what the hell, traded in my 06 2500HD and went with something a little more modern this past weekend. The 92 is still the primary driver/beater though.

Looks right at home in it’s new environment
