The future of Blazer Bash. More bull crap.

This is why the process was so screwed up this year.

"now-defunct updates to the county’s business licensing ordinance, which was updated in May after new state law rendered some portions illegal."

This lawsuit is probably why one commissioner made the comment about denying off road events without getting sued. They new this was coming.

Most of this lawsuit is due to the noise restriction placed on UTV's. No other vehicles were listed and the testing process was not in line with any federal testing process. Most stock units did not pass.

I was wondering about court cases. Look at some of what has happened just on the permit side. Blazer Bash and many other events were allowed to happen, and they should. Other events were denied but why? Too many events or someone in charge just didn't like them? It could easily end up in court. The only thing stopping lots of litigation is money. If Blazer Bash was denied there really isn't any money to sue the county or city. Game over. But lets say one of you guys happens to be a pharmaceutical billionaire and was planning on going. Now the county is going to get sued and from what I have seen they have a ton of legal exposure. They have been real lucky that the events are low budget non profits. The Blue Ribbon Coalition on the other hand has both money and good legal representation.

We seemed to have spent @50k grand at this years event. that might get us some legal satisfaction if the event had been denied. The money would be wasted in a law suit and not help the local economy. To make matters worse the county would need to spend county funds to defend against suit. double whammy for grand county economy.

what is grans county annual budget anyway ?
