The headache build..

Well, the "drive" side (actually the coast side on a front axle) has moved to center of the tooth. The coast side stayed stubbornly on the toe side.
The pattern sheet that came with the ring and pinion said the "drive" side should be centered and the coast side should be center or slightly to the toe.

I'm about ready to ship it.

I'm not the worlds expert here, But I did just get done regearing my truck and I think you need to take out more pinion shim.

That really flat line low on the tooth says your pinion is too close to the gear.

I had my best luck getting good pattern to show by adding some drag to the ring gear by holding it back with my hand as best as I could and turning it with a ratchet on the pinion nut.

I was using a drill off the pinion and holding back the ring gear with my other hand wearing a welding glove.
Are there any patterns that you liked?

Like i said, i'm not an expert, but it looks like your pinion is too far into the gear to me. @blazinzuk What do you say?

I'm beginning to think I can't get the perfect pattern. I know what my base show pack was and go under that instead of over. I do have another pattern chart that shows what patterns are acceptable due to the housing bring machined wrong. The pattern bring low on root does jive with too much pinion shim on the other pattern chart. But that doesn't match the pattern Dana sent with the ring and pinion.

You need to make BIG changes. You make .002 or .003 after your super close.

It's way too deep. Take out .020. Run it again.

Maybe even more.

The first pic looks too deep. You should have made a large change right there.

If your at .080 and that's your pattern, you need to change it to say .050. This will make the pattern change drastically and you will have a much better idea of where you need to be

20171101_170617.jpg 20171101_165106.jpg I'm going to work my way to -.03 of my last set up. Here is a pattern from a. 06" shim pach.

Looking better for sure!

I think you will end up somewhere close to this. Check your backlash with this .060 pack then run another pattern, I think you are going to have to go back up a wee bit from here, good job man.
