The headache build..

You ever think about putting some drag slicks on it and hitting a paved strip?

Not so much for the last year because we did some , un-hum, spirited driving on the street and the death wobble was bad. It seemed like it was death wobble wasn't there during sand drags, so we left it alone to concentrate on other things. It took about a year for the ball joints to get so bad it started to affect us at the sand drags. We replaced the ball joints last December before one last outing at the dunes before we pulled the motor.
Another reason is that the cage is totally wrong for how fast the blazer could be for the strip. It is a gripe that is partly my fault, partly my brother's fault.
I do another vehicle with the correct spec cage.

What kind of block is that? I notice is has not just the two missing upper head bolt bosses for underneath assembly but two extra duplicates as well, I don't remember seeing that before.

Old school Bow Tie block. In fact, it maybe a Gen 5 block since it has an adapter for a 2 piece main seal.
This motor was probably state of the art 25 to 30 years ago.

That explains it, I think the short run Gen V is the only one I haven't built, mainly Mark IV and Gen VI, my father even has some Gen VII we built up to 511s. So are you using the other two extra head bolts on each head that you fasten underneath since you are spraying it? I would think it would help at your power level...

I always enjoy your project.

Yeah, I've seen it. I'm supposed write a letter, but too depressed to do so. Plus I don't know what to write to a commission full of environmental leftys a reason to keep the dunes open. My positives don't coincide with their agenda which is to close the dunes no matter what.
