The Justin and Ben support group for taking 4 or 5 times to fix something right

I pulled the trans/tcase combo in my slanted gravel driveway to change the converter based on codes. Ended up only needing some spark plugs. Misfire codes were turned off but trans still tripped one.

I only have about a 70% success rate with pinion seals... but I haven't gone back to both of them on my '90....
I don't get it....

I changed the trans fluid / filter three times on my Mitsubishi within a couple of months...
  • First time I didn't clean the pan surface well enough, so it leaked all over the garage.
  • Second time went fine but a failed lock-up code was fired, and I read online (3si forums) that the transmission I had "really needed" OEM fluid.
  • Took the above for truth and wanted to go for a "cheap fix" so drained and replaced with OEM fluid. Light came back on anyway and that's how it sits today.

Most of the time I have to do a job on my truck more than once is because I was afraid to "GO BIG" the first time on things such as lift kits, tires, camshafts, and the like.

I was fixing a Mitsubishi eclipse and the trans was bad so a friend of mine built it and I put it in and it leaked.
I pulled out and checked all the mating surfaces and found no leaks so I put it back and drove it around and still leaked so I pulled it out and opened it up.
We had to change the pump and I looked at it the fluid was coming from the pump.
I see a grove for an O ring but no O ring.
I asked my buddy why he didn't put one and his answer was: it didn't come with one.
I went got one and put it together and all was good. Never gave him work again

My first engine rebuild I assembled the whole thing got it fired up, everything seemed fine ran for 10 minutes and then seized.
I opened it up and I had my buddy mechanic look at it, I had put the bearings wrong, the one with holes I put on the caps.:(
Never made that mistake again

I was lucky I polished the crank myself and got new bearings and it was all good. The engine outlived the car

My motorhome leaked a bit of gear oil in the rims (Dana 80 DRW), so I went after the hub seals. Had to build a tool to get the locknuts out and another tool to seat the seal, use 3 jacks to lift the rear axle, blah, blah. New ones leaked worse, so I got some of the fancy 2-piece seals (sticks to the hub and the spindle and rotation happens on a 3rd seal inside). Those leaked even when siliconed inside and out. Polished the seal surfaces out as much as I could and went back to stock-style seals. After that I just accepted the couple of drops I'd get from time to time. Probably the best it sealed was before I ever took it apart...

Ok I'll add another...

My DD Tahoe blew a head gasket, paid someone professionalaly to do the work. Pull into my drive was last night from work 230 degrees... Drive into work 225 today.... Start it up at lunch and it blows smoke out the pipe a bit....

Sometimes I wish cars were not invented and we rode around horses.

Every time this title comes up, I wonder why Justin beiber needs a support group.
I think it's pretty funny, I could wine about more inportant stuff in life trust me but I'll leave it to a text message or call if it comes up.

I live to far away for horses and they break worse and more expensive sometimes than the truck.. that is why I have a spare just Incase!

But yea I got a longggg list.
Recently I discovered chocolate milk is not an additive but worse(intake gaskets??) no verdict on my fresh camswapped sbc
Nv4500 debacle including clutch, hydro conversion and input bearing saga..
The water pump on the 6.2 diesel was done 3x in one year
Starter 2x
Batteries 2x
Injector lines 2x

Blazer blew head gasket the second day I owned it..
it ate 3 batteries and 2 alternators

My 92 k2500 is on trans 2 and the first replacement was in and out 2x

So my burb is the most reliable vehicle yet.. only maintenance stuff and minor issues related to me not paying attention..
Why am I doing this again??
Golf sounds cheap right now

I will say I'm alot closer to @ktmoutfront now adays. If I think something might be wrong I check it. Even if it involves and extra day or two.

If it feels wrong it probably is, if its not fitting and it did before something is wrong. If there is any doubt, check it out

If you are closer does that mean grumpier too?

I never make mistakes, like, I don’t read on the internet that the 700r4 lock up isn’t important and then take my 700r4 with no lock up on a 120mi round trip over heating it and cooking the tranny. :woot::dunno:

Let's see here...

On the FarmTruck I installed 7 starters within 15,000 miles. :doah:
I changed the tranny fluid last year and the pan has leaked ever since, despite me reinstalling it twice.

My Suburban was a perfect scam. I bought it in perfect working order, drove it home, and parked it. I then wound up flushing the fuel system, replacing the fuel pump, all glow plugs, both batteries, and the starter. And rewiring the glow plugs. All this before it ever once started for me. It was a couple of frustrating weeks.

So I bought it, drove it home, and it instantly turned into a brick. :doah:

My Ranger's front caliper pins periodically would seize up, so I wound up tearing down the front brakes 7 or 8 times in the 85,000 miles I owned it. The diamond-shaped pin is a nasty, high-friction design conducive to the sliding that it needed to support.
