The life, death, and rebirth of my K5 Build.

I have found 5.13 gears for it, and haven't seen anything stating I need a different carrier, so hopefully i'll be good there.

A pneumatic chisel with a pickel fork attachment will pop them right off...if you don't have enough air supply to support pneumatic tools you can always just get a pickle fork and hit it with a hammer but the pneumatic chisel w/ the pickle fork attachment works the best...

Just take the codder pin out of the castle nut...take the nut off then use the pickle fork to pop it out...

Will I need a different carrier for the axle? or will the 5.13's work fine? Can anyone else answer any of my questions?

the highest(numerical) gear that you can fit on a 410 carrier is 456 thick gears.. anything higher will need to be upgraded a different carrier

No look on Randy's Ring and Pinion...you can get 5.13's (thick) that fit in a 4.10 carrier...

Thanks for all the help guys, anyone else have any info on the seal for the tranny where the shift linkage go's? Thanks again!

i replaced one on a th350 in auto...its called a shift lever seal. we got ours from advance auto....hope htat helps.

Haven't really been following, but just saw a request for my opinion....

What was the issue?

Gonna be driven on and offroad, would like this to appear stock as possible, would like to keep the stock column in the truck, I believe I will have to go with manual gauges since i'm swapping the tbi body onto the carbed 85 frame, i'd like to use the wiring from the truck, hopefully it will work and I won't have to rip it all out and put the blazer wiring in it, but we will see I guess.

Right here he wants to put a 88 cab on a 85 blazer frame and wire everything in the cab so it looks stock

That'll be easy... he can just leave the cab stuff alone, it's just wiring it in to the motor. Which I'm assuming will just be an hei fired, carbed motor...

There will be a few things in the cab that wont be utilized... just swap in senders for an 88 (in all actuality, that probably isn't necessary, but if your readings are off, try that), power to the dizzy and he should be golden...

If he was doing the opposite, then he'd be having issues.. The only prob I'd have with this is that all that tbi wiring coming thru the rightside wont be utilized... I hate having extra stuff to clutter and complicate things, thus my full custom harness....

Will I have any problems deleteing the extra wiring that I don't need? Will the gauges work properly? or will I need to make a custom gauge panel with manual gauges? either or works fine, So all I need is the wiring to the starter, and to the hei dizzy and I can atlest have it running? functional gauges are a must so thats my biggest concern. thanks guys!

Gauges will be no big deal at all.. just hook the sender wires off the new cab to the motor senders, fuel, etc...

But like I said, you will have a fair amount of unused wiring, especially ECM related.. anything thats not in use can certainly be deleted back to it's source..

Your the man, thanks alot! So what exactly all could I delete? I'm going to be using the chips from the computer to go into an astro van i'm building, Thanks for all your help ryoken!

well, like i said, I haven't been following closely, but if all you want to do is a carbed, hei, mechanical fuel motor, then all the ECM related stuff can be ditched... which is alot... that entire bundle coming out on the passenger side will be unused, TPS, IAC, injector stuff, ALDL port, yada, yada....

you'll want to run a fused ign source for the hei, but all the other ecm related stuff can be deleted back to the fusebox... When you actually get into it, feel free to shoot me a pm and we can walk thru it...

Anyone happen to know if you need to remove the peice on the top of the knuckle with the slots in it before the balljoint will come out? don't really care about beating the **** out of the balljoints as it will be getting new ones, but don't wanna break anything hah, thanks!

Well, heres the beginning of my front axle, going 8 lug, 5.13 gears, crossover, ect. not sure when i'll start ordering parts, I have 200 other things I need to buy, gas line, ect. So we'll see what happens.
