the LIFE table build

got my 24ft stick of 3x3 square tube 1/4" wall for the leg's and frame work .

then a 21ft length of 2x2 3/16" angle for under bench storage shelf frame work and also tie in for leg's .

then a length of 5" wide by 1/4" plate for the top's and bottoms of the legs to sit on the floor and make the legs bolt to the top .

picked up my 2nd stick of 3x3 tube today .

hope to whip up a frame for the table this weekend possibly .

even stoped at the welding supply store and got a fresh bottle of c-25 mix for the welder .

thinking of having just the top of my plate media blasted to bare metal so I can start clean and fresh . even tho its a new sheet its been sitting a lot before I got it and has heavyish surface rust .

Well it's been a bit but winter coming and I am NOT plowing snow around them again . Got steel for frame work and ready to build them now . . . . Time to get it done !

So the 1 4x8 sheet is in the shop and on the lift . . And yes there is a small amount of sag in the middle :haha:

Using what I got cheap and also its BEEFY and will add more weight to sit and not move when working .

10" c-channel 1/4" thick in the web . 20ft total @ 7ft x 2 and 3ft x 2 for the frame .

The legs are going to be 3x3x1/4 wall square tube . Some flat plate on bottom for feet . Then angle to lock them together and make a shelf mount and also use pallet jack to move them if need be.

Time to start cutting channel . Break time is over . :grind::hack:

Got my end cuts done . 7ft x 3ft box size. Test fit went real good . Burned the box together and called it a day . Had to go help a friend unload a truck with locked up brakes . Then it was dinner time .

Next is 4 legs and feet . Then tie them in with angle iron for shelf and lift point for palette jack .

So far we are tipping the scale at 1,700 lbs and that's the plate and box only .

Update pics .

Legs 3x3 1/4 wall @ 34.75inch . Plate @ 1inch and feet @ 1/4 inch get me 36" table height .

24ft stick got me 2 sets of legs and 9inch chunk .

Legs I dont think are coming off . Got a bit of weld on them .

And BIG thanks to my buddy for letting me use this tool to drill and tap the 1inch plate for 4 3/4 inch bolts to hold the top to the frame .

Well I knew the 2x2x3/16 angle I got was to thin . . So I went back to my HEAVY metal guy for another round . Well I left with the last of his new cut scraps tonight . Pic already has 2 lengths removed from truck .

So I upgraded the lower shelf point and pallet jack pic point to 3x5x3/8 angle :yikes:
Doing the 5inch tall face up and 3inch for the flat to set shelf in if I want .

Doing this got me to 1,950 lbs on paper of weight to this point. Still need to do the 12 2" receiver points on the frame 3 per side minimum . That should push me over the 1 TON total .

Just need to dress the weld points on the legs and burn in the angle and then do 4 mount tabs and drill & tap the plate. And were ready to flip and weld 4 feet on and. ....... DONE !

Yes iij ts taking a bit but the first 1 always takes longer as we know .

Feet on . Set it on the floor first on feet . Then jacked up low corner to make top level . Tack welded all 4 corners and feet . Picked it back up and burned them on .

Just need to finish a few points and she will be 100% done .

And yes even with the pallet jack she is a TANK .
