The Monster M-37 Finally out of the garage

Well my brother was finally able to drive his 1951 Dodge M-37 out on the street. He has spent the last 7 years working on it and has done nearly all of the work on it. It's on a chevy suburban frame that has been shortened 14 inches. Its got Dana 60's front and rear with 5.13 gears and a Detroit out back. NP205 transfer case, and High Performance TH400. The motor is a Chevy 427 with a 454 crank and bored .030 over with a ton more work, its got an estimated 600-650 HP. And its rolling on 46" Mickey Thompson Baja Claws

THAT is frickin awsesome. i got a 1954 willys jeep, i can actually understand all the work that has been put into that.. not a lot of people can truly appreciate stuff like this... tell him good frickin job!

My brother started by welding over 200 holes shut on the frame! Then took a big grinder to smooth the top, bottom, and side of the frame rails. The frame was then sandblasted and about four coats of urethane primer were applied, sanded each time. Painted and clear coated and then wet sanded and buffed.

Hey guys, my brother says thanks for all the comments. This is actually the second time it was taken out on the street. The first time was after Attitude performance installed the gears and lockers, we were driving it around on the side streets and when we got back home we noticed a clunk when it was in reverse. I got out and looked at the rear axle. Both spring perches were cracked!!! one had broken welds and small crack, the other was almost cracked in half. Funny part is, my brother said he never went past 3/4 throttle. So my brother cut off the stock perches and put on heavy duty spring perches, then made a set of traction bars out of DOM tube, those suckers will never break

never, ever, ever say never.... the point where the upper tube meets the lower is really weak. if it went all the way up to the pivot point it would much stronger, especially with that much power.

Truck looks AWESOME. Someday I hope to build something so clean... yeah I need to get going on that...

Well he is planning on taking it the car show in Rolling meadows, but there is a lot of work to do before it gets there. Right now its not street legal (no front bumper, rear bumper is too high, no seat belts, no working lights) We had a friend follow us as we took it to the Attitude Performance open house yesterday. We used ratchet straps as seatbelts! But it will definitly be at the Indy 4X4 jamboree this year for sure!!
