Well guys, it is very safe to say that I had more fun saturday night than all of the rest of the night combined... If I could never use the suburban again, and I would still feel justified in the $2000 I have in it..

It was still running crappy, but not as bad.. I retarded the timing a bit and it seemed to help.. Still wanted to fould plugs, black smoke, and crackle at over 1/2 throttle under load. I haven't rebuilt my carb yet.. But me and my buddies decided, what the heck, we'll borrow the neighbor's trailer and go down there anyway..

It was pouring rain the whole way down there, and my poor old dodge barely had the cajonies to pull it up those hills. The crowd was relatively small at elko. The mud pit was so flooded from the rain that the competitors unanimously decided to just run the fast track.. Long story short, at "play time we ran on the fast track, cut massive doughnuts in a muddy field with tons of other trucks (I kinda understand about needing a good battery with an ebrock now....and Ironically my batter took a notion to die, so we had to be jump started twice)
My cousin and buddy were daring me to hit the bog pit.. I really wish I had thought to make one of them sit out of the burb and snap a pic, or to even get a pic of the awsome bog pit...

I got a running start and was going probably 50 mph when I hit the bit, I couldn't see anything, because mud was flying EVERYWHERE!! People were getting sprayed with mud.. A large crowd above the pit was cheering and screaming. I never let off the skinny pedal (although unburned gas was exploding in my exhaust)... I made it through the bog both times I attempted it..
the burb still needs alot of tuning, and ALOT of cleaning... I'm starting to see why some guys just stick to rocks.. lol, but mud is way too addicting...

The burb looks super clean on the body in some of these pics, because it was pouring rain the whole 70 mile ride back.. My buddy henry snapped a few pics of the burb at the bog, covered in mud, but that was with a disposable camera, I will have to see if I can get some of those pics... anyway, enough of my rediculosely long rambling... Here's a few pics:

here's my cousin helping take off some ratchet straps from the back ramps:

And yes, I had loosened the chains and big rachet straps up for the pics, it was tied down alot better during towing..

PS: I almost hacked my fenders, but deemed it un necessary... it kinda ate the sides out of a few lugs.. I'm gonna hack the piss out of them very soon.

Nice pics, can I come to your house and take pictures of the barns?

Glad you had fun.. just imangine how much fun you would have had if she was running 100%

You really want pics?? We have a some barns, cotton houses, a pigeon house, a smoke house, and slave houses... it was an old cotton plantation, way back in the day. I'll snap some and email them to ya, if you want, just shoot me an email.
thanks,
James

musta rained on the way home? it looks clean, on the outside anyway. good luck getting all that mud off underneath, looks like your gonna need it.

i like mud, but killed way too many alternators, starters and filled the clutch up too many times, ill still go play, but not in the BIG holes like i have been.

Kool as chit man!!! Love to see more photos.
One thing I always tried to do was..........hit the carwash while the mud is still wet!!! 99% washes right off then.............the red stain stays though. I used to love the mud!!! I tried to hit it on wet rainy days as well, it stayed damp long enough to drive to the car wash and the owners weren't around then usually.

Is there a way to test if its my alternator or my battery? Can Autozone or somewhere like that test either one? Is there a way to clean out the inside of an alternator? Is there a way to rig us some kinda of shield for an alternator that won't burn it up?
thanks,
James

Mud can soooo kiss my ass...

This picture right here is the reason I won't touch anything bigger than a mud puddle anymore-

Yeah the sprinkler thing works. Get thew kind that is long and goes back and forth. Set it under the truck and move it evry 10 min for a hour or so. Gets it clean and all you have to do is sit on your arse.
