so today i was bored and called on a blazer.. I was really only looking for a rust free tub to use on a project or for my friends son ryan.. well blazer is cleaner than I thought. I called on it, settled on a price for a non runnng blazer with a "motor issue"..so I get ready to go snatch it with a trailer and the guy calls me and says he deliver it..:eek1::laugh: he lives a good 20 miles away so I accepted..now you should have seen the look on my face when he showed up and was driving it:eek1:

im not sure where im going with this, might cut the top and replicate the old 75 or my green 86 and herc the floor, build a cage and some 3/4 ton axles, cross over and 38's..

or ???????????????

Nice score. Already has at least 60 h.p. over stock from the Hot Wheels sticker.:D

people place your dates on the time of death...

I am thinking of posting it up for sale for a few days, everytime I get a truck or do what I want with it I get nothing but hell from the rust belt folks, so ill put it up for sale for 1 week in the for sale section... if they really want to save one ill give them the chance.

on to the truck,

305, 700r4, 208 10 bolts, working ac, nice interior, newer carpet...clean rust free body,! ill poat some better pics, hell even has tinted windows, im really up in the air on what to do with it or which way to go with the build. The nice thing is the body is straight enough that i could scuff and and shoot it tomorrow:D

one thing is that it is stumbling or will die under throttle, if I take it easy or feather it its fine,

worn dizzy shaft? worn timing chain? If the motor is gone I do have another but ill fiddle with this one first.

Those are the last two things you would look at. Check plug wires, plugs, fuel filter, cap and rotor. Its probably carburetor related.

1. It needs the carb rebuilt ( or removed and replaced with normal carb if its feedback carb ) so you can start at a baseline .

2. The ESC dizzy also needs yanked and replaced with a normal HEI if it isn't done already too .

3. You just bought it , you can't expect the thing has nice new wires , plugs , cap , rotor , filters , and love .

If it had those , it would run sweet , be his pride and joy , and he may of painted it :wink1:

You never remembered me calling you for a tow in my 83 do you ? And it was always at work when I still DD .

pauly you ROCK!

The guy did replace the computer controlled quadrajet..ill bet money he did not change out the dizzy!:waytogo:

It has a new edelbrock 650 carb on it, i also have another good one off the vette project that I can use to rule out the carb.

ill start there, the wires, plugs, filter and cap all look fresh..ill also look for vacuum leaks

As much as I want a rust free tub, I don't have the cash now. Nice score though. I know that I will be hitting all of the AZ boys up when I get ready to get me a tub next year.

Why sell it to the rust belt guys? All they will do is drive it around on the salted roads and turn it into a rust bucket. Sell it to some SW guy who wants to make it nice and pretty :wink1:

Hey now, I plan to fix the tub to prevent as much rust as possible for as long as possible. But I will still be driving it on the salty roads.

And it will still be turned into a rusty pile of sh!t :( You'd be better off finding a local rusty pile of sh!t, cutting the rust out, and replacing it with stainless steel sheet metal. Seal the frame with POR, and you can drive it on the salty roads (whose stupid idea is it to use salt anyways???) all you want with no worries :waytogo:

Mine isn't close to some that I have seen, and the rust really isn't that bad, but it is still cheaper to drive to AZ and pick up a rust free tub. Then I will fill the gaps as much as possible, rhino or similiar across the bottom and in the tub. It will still rust, but it will take much longer than it has to get to it's current state.

Nice. If you do decide to keep it and sell off what you don't need I would like to put my name in the hat for the bumpers. My rear one is still tweaked from that last outing to Florence Junction. 86 to 86 easy bolt up.

I saw it yesterday , still has some bugs . Dizzy was stabbed in , and she fired up , but she felt like it was needing to come back out and back in . Had to really move dizzy to passenger side to run a little well at all .

Sounded nice cranking with the ignition wire pulled , definitely a good solid motor under the spaghetti .

I suggested in daylight pull wires , pull dizzy , restab , route wires , pull all vacuum lines and run whats needed as shown on sticker . So many things unhooked , and open hoses .

Interior was real clean

Got some better pics, looks like next week the 305 is coming out and the 350 will go in. Also came across some 6 inch front and rear springs. I hope this thing rides decent.

Looks like this blazer will get used for that kid ryan I talked about in my last thread, I dont know if I am going to give it to him or make him pay me for it yet. He is a real good kid but I want him to have some pride in the fact that he helped build it and payed something for it. He starts driving around june should he keep the parental happy. I talked with him and came up with some ideas. He still wants to do the bright green color I painted my last blazer, but he likes the way they look with the half cab and no doors or tube doors. Lucky for me cause that is alot of work saved:D So i think im going to get him over here and start gutting the interior and teach him how to sand and prep for the paint job.

sweeeeet
