These have a good white filter on them so it's not such a direct glare like bare LEDs have. But we'll see.

My current thoughts are 6 lights on the main switch for general getting stuff in the garage lighting, 8 more on a second switch for "I need to see what I'm doing work" the remaining 6 would be saved for under cabinets and over specific work areas.

I think splitting up the lights on different switches is a good way to go. Like you said, it doesn't always need to be the Griswolds' Christmas in there.

I did mine with a "walk through" set of lights. Spaced far apart and enough light to walk through to get stuff. Then the work lights are on 3 separate zones. New shop in Tennessee will be the same.

Similar to how I did mine. My shop is set up as 2 bays, so I have a "walk through" circuit centered in the shop between the bay, then I have a separate circuit for each bay.

That said, I've never heard anybody complain about having too much light in a shop. Working under a hood or in an interior can get dark in any shop. Being able to see through your hand if you really want to is nice.

Even with all of my light, I still have a headlight over my do-rag all the time. Being old and partially blind does not help. I get out my phone in a restaurant to read a menu.

I did a little paint work after I got home today. I just wanted to see the "finished" look from my back patio so I repainted all the areas with overspray and painted the door frame. I also installed the exterior light a few days ago.

To add to this, I think I've gotten at least 8 comments about how I can never have too much light, so maybe I will just go full bore and install all 20.

Today should be exciting! The final inspection is supposed to happen this morning, then this afternoon they are cleaning and acid etching the floor to prep for epoxy coating tomorrow.

The inspector stopped by yesterday for the final inspection, it failed...
The issues were fairly minor and we'll get those fixed up on Monday and get it reinspected.
Today I got my floor epoxy coated though, so I've got that going for me!

And don't worry about the failed inspection, nobody passes on the first try. I even know some contractors that leave something simple to fail so that the inspector feels like he's done his job and quits hunting for more.

On my house, after the initial fail, when they came back to reinspect they barely looked at the house and passed us.

My shop passed first time on every inspection. It helps that I know all of the inspectors who showed up.

The final inspector was here for an hour, bench racing motorcycles.

Another weekend, and a few more things off the to do list for the garage. I had the stomach flu or something yesterday so I spent half the day in bed. Thankfully Amber went out and did some painting while I was dying. We ended up getting about half of the "touch up" paint work done today and yesterday and we installed a gate for the front. I'll narrow the gate down at a later date and install a second post for it to latch/lock onto, but for now at least my yard is somewhat closed (minus the giant missing garage doors of course).
One of the things we failed inspection on was the open electrical boxes for the coach lights. There's no wiring yet, but I hung the lights up to make the inspector happy.

The other thing it failed for was the exposed Romex for the lights, they're coming to throw some drywall up for that tomorrow then hopefully we can get it reinspected before next weekend.

The doors are still scheduled for the 15th, hopefully they don't get delayed again.
