The R/C Garage... [R/C Drivers Lounge]

It's something with clearancing the knuckle so it doesn't stop in the lift screw holding the C on right? Don't the axial aluminum knuckles solve the issue?

Nice. That's my biggest complaint with mine, is the damn ten foot turn radius. Even stock with 1.9"s.

Funny thing is I don't remember my wraith steering that bad. But I never did crawl with it like the scx.

Another buddy with his scx steered good till he put a lift in as well. He is gonna do the clockable inner C's fwiw.

Being I have a castle MMP and 3800kv in the slash now, imma try the Vxl system in the scx and see how she handles.

Thought I could drive outta this one.....no luck. A ten foot drop later and it landed on its wheels :doah::haha:

It depends on which knuckles you buy. A high steer zero ackerman knuckle will not hit the C screw, but you'll have to re-do your steering links and there might be tire contact issues depending on what you're running, as well as possible servo arm contact unless you are running CMS. People also put set screws or countersunk flatheads in the C to give a bit more room. Pair that with shaving the C down a bit (Where the screw goes in) and you can get quite a bit more steering. Also, CVD's make a huge difference. The stock dogbones dont allow much. The Axial CVD's are pretty strong (avoid with brushless) and steer way better, and the Vanquish CVD's are about the best you can buy.

Chassis mounted steering is neat looking and more realistic, but can be hard to get the most steering out of if you truck is taller than stock. There are ways to help it however.

i have so many started and not complete.. but I did get my workbench cleared off... so i can get to them... now going to get cranking.. like 5 not complete...

I wanted to use xmod wheels.. something small like a normal flatbed but the amount of lift the leafs give with those small tires looked horrid... so threw my boggers on and like it..
was going to be a 2wd flatbed but now may become a 4wd towing and recovery vehicle...

I snapped the frame but it wasnt long enough anyway so need to get styrene and learn how to extend and reattach the broken end... :dunno:

the toolbox under the workbench wasnt there.. it now houses all of my micro stuff.. from parts, tx and rigs... soooo nice! :thumb:

cleaning still in process. I am throwing stuff out like u cant believe!!!!!

school me please.

I keep looking at scale crawlers, I am thinking of buying a 1/24th scale Losi so that I can run a 1/24 scale model body like the fall guy truck model style.

What do you guys think?

yo can go as easy as you want or as difficult as you want...

examples...

i took a stock losi trekker... someone on ebay had a model lid.. they had on a trekker... ok it looks alright.. but holes in hood.. bed messed up a bit... but it works... no modding needed...

it is going to be getting tractor tires soon... in a week or 2.. guy is making them and rims...

boggers not mounted.. just sitting there for the look to see if it is what i wanted

Miclaw tires... super sticky tires... awesome tires and BIG

bought a ford f150 from ebay.. came with TONS of parts... extra axles, just tons of stuff... im not a ford guy.. got it for $175... sold body back on ebay for $40.. so $135 for tons of stuff... WOOOT..

but still this gives you an idea.. if u can take your time.. anything is possible and looks cleaner...

The Chevy was easy.. bolt on and go.. guy did a crappy job on the bed im gonna fix soon....

ford... while harder still looks cool but with 4link it still misses part of the scale-ism...

I am using leafs for my current as I want no 4 link and more realistic... will see how it turns out...

more pics here..
if you buy a model and buy a trekker... then buy this frame... u can build it all up...

Thanks for the info, the chevy is the body I want to use. I was hopping that the wheel base would be close. So the trekker is the one to buy then? It matches the wheelbase the closest?

pretty much....

the fun of it is getting it all stuffed in there... more than just the lid on the truck.. i got that cheap and gonna leave the truck mostly stock. getting tractor tires and a danally 90t motor...

fyi wanna go crazy and get the bug?
go here..

not sure if i posted these pics up back some.. but another still in works...

im gonna redo the center part.. going to hobby store today for styrene... i posted this over there at rcc and it is called Yoda-T

Ill post later from my pc and better pics when done.

Let me start by saying im horrible at build threads. I dont take pics and my mod skills ar horrid but it doesnt stop me from trying. I decided the micro t i got needed something fun.

Cut chassis and stretched it. I need to get glue and brace the frame.

What glue is good for plastic? I may remove screws if glue is strong enough...

I had this lid I got in sn ebay deal so figured a good use....

Lid is not mounted
Frame needs bracing
Need to support motor as i dont remember how it was bolted
Needs motor wires soldered
Needs a battery

So she will b a runner soon...

Well got the velineon in, all buttoned up. Tried a 12t pinion to start, cogged a bit. So I slapped a 9 tooth in her.

It will crawl good, and have decent wheel speed in training mode(50 %), if I really need she can be changed to race(100%) in seconds for part snapping power :haha:

Got ahold of the guy I got it from, said it should have steel trans gears. Ill have to pull it apart and check I guess. Will be no need for the kit I ordered as well :doah:

I've often thought if doing that, and I've heard it works well. I just don't want to destroy everything in the drive line.

Besides it's a lot of fun having that system in a touring car.

Yeah had it laying around anyways, figured cant be worse than the stock brushed setup.

Yeah I'm also running steel everything for the most part, so not to worried.....yet :haha:

Wouldn't mind going to a mamba max pro Esc and a sensored motor if I don't like this setup.

never stops..

i just got new shoes for my micros... :waytogo:
MiClaws... WOW they are huge.. and sweet!!!!

they are going on my micro raptor (black crawler lookin one...)

but for now i test fit them on my 84 chevy :thumb:

update on the truck.... so these tires got moved... and i found the tires that will work GREAT on this truck...

TractorTires by TeleFragger / RootBreaker, on Flickr

Plans for the deck truck?!!

Did a lil fall crawlin couple weeks back

bit o teaser...
broke the frame so need to use styrene... never used it so will need to mess with it..

truck is going to get leaf springs. Leafs gave too much lift as I wanted to actually use xmods tires for the small car/truck sized tires...
instead with so much lift I had to move my boggers over. They equate to like 44's...

once i fix the frame, get axles mounted I will move over to getting all going.

it was gonna be a towing truck but now it is going to be a recovery and towing... hah.. also hauler for my tractor tire mud truck.

here we go. what it will kinda look like...

Ran the scx for an afternoon. Works pretty good, it will heat after an hour or so of solid running. But all in all I'm impressed with it. Crawls decent, very little cogging, good wheel speed when in 100% race mode too.

I like the ease of being able to run 50% power with the push of a button, with out that it would be not near as fun.

One upgrade I wouldn't mind would be a sensored/4 pole motor. I have a 3800 castle in my slash I might try in it. If it works ill prob run that and slap a 2200 in the slash.

Anyone here build a wroncho?

Buddy and me plan to do ours.

Unsure of axle choice, most likely an all aluminum ar60 of some variant. Also plan on using the scx skid.

Wondering if anyone has any tips? Done a fair bit
Of googling and it looks like a easy enough swap.

Than planning on doing a scale scx with a 80 c10 body with the old axles. But wroncho has priority first.

OK just looking for help. I want to get my son a RC. I want it to be somewhat fast but also be able to control it. Would like a Blazer body (full vert with cage would cool) and easy to take care of ie. batteries and parts. Is this possible? I've read quite a bit here and my head is spinning:eek1:

Thanks
