The R/C Garage... [R/C Drivers Lounge]

Got a new truck coming tomorrow. Haven't had anything in about 15 years or so. Things have changed a lot in that time. Nitro used to be the business but brushless/lipo blows it away. Should be fun

1/8 scale w/ lockable difs. Should be interesting.

Seen a few of them catch some air.

Started getting bit by another bug while looking at these - speed runs. Don't blink on that lol.

pretty sweet looking.. I'm not about speed anymore as I used to have an original traxxas t-max that I stretched the chassis and took the .5hp motor out and put a 3.5hp motor in. all aluminum upgraded parts, etc... was fun...

now I'm about getting stuff more realistic and slower crawling. but will do a FOFF (which is 85% done)

Brycen let a buddy drive his wraith and I let Brycen drive my Bomber. They did great until his buddy didn't think the binding up was a problem. Lost a driveline, bound it up in the chassis and pinned the throttle.
Now it's time to put a clutch, motor, driveline and who knows what else as we tear it down farther. We had just put the new metal gears in the trans also. Brycens pretty bummed but understands. He is not to let his friends drive anymore. He doesn't realize yet that his skills aren't normal.
We got some trail work done though last night. Bridge build across the creek and a couple small obstacles cut. Nothing to crazy, but enough to make it challenging.

Here's my wraith with Vanquish aluminum axles and some other suspension upgrades, stock drivetrain/electronics. Proline '80 Blazer body painted to look like my '75, just need to come up with some round headlight decals. Would love to find a way to make some stockish looking wheels with hubcaps too, but I digress.

why dont you go with the new rc4wd hard body.. its sooo better scaled and would totally be awesome!!!!

I'm really thinking about busting up two bodies for another crew cab. Bigger sizing compared to a clod body based rig. Opens up the options on axles and not looking ridiculous.

I bought a clod then saw this. Saw someone used 3 for crew cab....

I've been drooling over a Blazer crawler for a while now. Vaterra or rc4wd. Then this hits my news feed...

Better not distract @Greg72 because this one has portal axles. He might never get his real one done if he gets one of these. Traxxas might have something here. From the looks it might have remote locking diffs and two speed trans. Might need to wait and see what it's going to sell for.

Took the ascender out on its first real run with the 1.9 flat iron xl's. They seem to walk all over the 1.9 rc4wd boggers I had on it.

Second pic is buddy's ascender based k5, rc4wd body, 1.55 tires. Slight difference in height.

Nothing wrong with a little necromancy.

Well, I was waiting for my body panels to arrive - shipping to Alaska ain't no joke. Early september I got on a plane and headed for a ten day job in Kodiak, so of course the pallet shows up the day I leave town. Good stuff. Get back from Kodiak and I have about 30 hours until I got on a plane to Barrow, where I am today (and for the rest of this week).

But at least I've got entertainment! Right before I got my '79 back, I picked up some RC cars. Back in the day, electric sucked and gas was expensive and fiddly. Well I'm here to tell yah, things have changed. I bought me a Traxxas TRX4 - It's got freaking portals and links, and a two speed transmission, and enough brushless torque that the limiting factor is me, not the machine. I also picked up an Arrma Granite, the smallest of the 'serious' monster trucks. Neat rig, even brushed motor and nickle battery. Blew up three motors and a battery pack and decided to upgrade.. 80 amp el cheapero chinese knockoff motor controller and motor package woke this thing UP. 40 miles an hour, backflips, just beastly. Then I burnt a couple clutch packs and some gears, then I burnt that motor up.

I had friends coming over, so I bought the Granite 3s - which is the 100amp brushless stock version of the Granite. And a 130 amp brand name motor controller and motor bundle for the other one..

So I've got my trucks in Barrow, might as well bash the beach!

It's all fun and games until you launch off an 8 foot drop, screw up your throttle input, and land ass first at 40+mph onto a hard target instead of soft sand!
