The RedBurb

Every Part Is Replaceable
Your hard work has paid off well so far!

Thanks! There’s always more to be done. Aside from the general restoration task list that continues, I’ve discovered a couple new leaks that need to be sorted out, but not urgent I don’t think, and should be easy to resolve.

What a great payoff. Your persistence and work ethic is impressive. Congrats on the successful run.

Thanks man! The work ethic probably came from my dad. Still seems like it has a long way to go before BB2020, but, this milestone was a pretty big one one, and it feels good to finally use it again.

I bet! You’ll get the tuning down. I had to mess with the parallelism of my axles a fair bit after my truck got hit. There’s plenty of time until BB20, and I’ll see you there.

Im looking forward to it! Until then, I’ll be pulling double duty like you are with house work and truck work.

Work truck doin work truck things.

My wife is the beneficiary of my newly freed up time. The primary focus is the laundry room, which has always looked like an afterthought (and was the recipient of some water damage). We are planking the walls, and possibly the ceiling too, and it will all get painted white. The floor will likely get tiled to match the kitchen. And the shelving over the machines will be rebuilt to be more seamless with the water heater cabinet, which will get sliding barn doors. It will be the room that fulfills all my wife’s farmhouse fantasies.

The boards are cool.

-but-

Is that...sod? :screwy:

Sure is. Needed a couple more to finish up Saturday’s project.

It's still hard to wrap my mind around planting in November. For perspective, we had a high of 22 degrees today, expecting a low of 10 degrees. Same weather tomorrow.

It's still short sleeve weather, but we've recently switched from shorts to pants. :wink1:

What’s hard for me to wrap my mind around is 22 degrees being short sleeve weather. But maybe that’s sarcasm ...

For perspective, today’s high was 76* with a low of 60*. Tomorrow it’ll be 80* but a low of 40*.

Yes, more warmer weather means more time to get more done.

But I wouldn’t mind some cold weather around here.

Not sarcasm. I worked outside several times today in short sleeves, and I did spent half an hour outside in shorts, on the colder side of that temperature range. It's just a normal part of seasonal acclimation. If you get used to the cold now, January is a whole lot more fun. If you bundle up like a penguin, you'll be miserable all winter. Because it's just getting started.

I am jealous of the longer wrenching season you guys get. Cold weather isn't great for building stuff outdoors. But that's part of the territory, eh? Someday I'll get around to building a garage. :haha:

If you want a happy medium, move closer to Greg...

My brother just moved to Montana from Cocoa Beach, FL. He said the same thing, that it’s just getting started.

Acclimation is definitely key. Floridians bundle up when it’s 60* outside. But if we ever moved somewhere colder, we would just have to be intentional about acclimating.

Someday I’ll get around to build a garage too, so that I won’t have to work in the rain (which I did a few times to get this rebuild done on schedule), or heat.

I have this day dream that, if I stay in Florida and continue driveway-building, I’ll build during the winter and wheel during the summer, because it’s pretty miserable working in 95*+ heat and 80%+ humidity. Probably *almost* as miserable as trying to build during your winter. But alas, my rig has required my attention year-round for all three years of ownership.

One advantage to working in summer down there is you can don’t have to wear so many layers of clothes that you can’t fit under the truck :haha: I had to put a starter in my service truck a few years back (F550 with a 6.4) laying in the snow at 5* barely able to fit under the dang thing and cussing all the way. That day I’d have taken a Florida hot day over winter

Yeah fair point. I’ll take 100* and 100% humidity over that any day.

Funny you say that Ethan. Our low last night was 7* with a morning hi of 22* yesterday, but our hi today is 34*. And we are supposed to be back to upper 50's by Friday. So yes, we get it all.
