It rained at Firebird, but it stopped and the wind is drying out the track nicely. They're still aiming for gates opening at 7:30, track going hot at 8:30 (I was wrong when I posted times the other day). The truck is loaded on the trailer and hooked up to the Silverado. Fingers crossed that this just cooled it down and we're going to be able to make some passes tonight. It's

Lol. Sorry for the delay. I only ran 3 times, twice to the 1/8, once to the 1/4.
It was only making 10.7 lbs of boost max. The 1/4 time was slightly better 11.28@118. There was no point running anymore so we came home.
It's all the testing it's going to get before we leave, but I'll figure out what's going on before we head to Michigan
 
On top of the temps being 117° today, we also have a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon/evening so the event might get rained out.

I'll be pretty disappointed if it doesn't do a 10 tonight. We were only making about 8lbs of boost on the last trip, we should be at 16lbs this time. If I can get it to hook up and go down the track, it should be pretty deep in the 10s.
Yeah we have a friend in grand canyon college in AZ and he was showing us the forecast 118 with rain and we were like :sign27:

Did it make more boost on the dyno with the small pulley..?

I'm just wondering if that blower, with that pulley in theory makes 16 on say a 5.3-6.0.
But your cubes are eating up more air, so it's not as high....

Can't remember the dyno stuff, so just a thought I had.
The reason I was looking at the 3.8's is for just that being I have the 454.
 
When I bought the setup they said it should make 18lbs. When they ran it on the dyno it made 16lbs and they joked that I needed a smaller pulley to get the 1000+hp to the rear wheels (it was 948hp).
The most I saw last night was 10.7 just before the shift. The belt still looks brand new, so I don't think it's slipping. If it wasn't so hot out I may have tried to wait for it to cool down and swapped the belt, but we decided to just head home.
If anyone smarter than I am has any ideas, let me know. I checked the logs and the dominator wasn't trying to open the smoothboost so it should have been shut (no way to log actual position unfortunately). It was hot, but I was able to cool the intercooler water down to close to ambient between runs. The rain cooled it down nicely and without the sun it didn't immediately evaporate and crank up the humidity. It was about 88° and 45% humidity when I ran to the 1/4.

My previous best pass with the big pulley was [email protected], DA was 4799ft by my calculations.

I just wanted to address this comment with more detail. When I worked with Wegner ordering the kit, they took into account the displacement of my engine to pick the pulleys. I currently have a 3.7" and a 3.225" pulley, they said it would make about 7psi on the big pulley (it makes over 8) and 18psi on the small pulley (it made 16.4 on the dyno). That's spinning the blower 14% faster with the small pulley. They also sell a 4" and a 3" pulley. The 3" would be 23% faster, I may order that if it will get here in time.
I looked at the 3.8L blower (it's a direct bolt in swap on this kit), but decided not to go that way because it can't use the 4" pulley, 3.7 is as big as you can go. With the 3.7" pulley you're pushing 1000hp worth of air, I don't think you want that for a driver, especially if you don't have easy access to e85. That's why I went with the 3L.

Max intake air temp (post intercooler) last night: 156°F
Max intake air temp on previous best run: 156°F
Launch intake air temp last night: 137°F
Launch intake air temp on previous best run: 153°F
Oil temp at launch last night:165°F
Oil temp at launch on previous best run:187°
I ran the air filter last night and on the previous night. I have no idea if he took that off for the 1000hp dyno pull.

So it seems like the engine was cooler, intake air temps were similar, DA was about 1000ft difference. Now the big question is why I didn't see the boost.
