did they use the 37" MTR? the one that is priced at $750 each from the dealer? Maybe they got a special deal like the rockcrawlin boys. Must be nice...

I have no clue what those tires are priced at. But, WHOA! $750.00 per tire?!?!?! What has this world come to?!?!?! And I thought the Goodyear Wrangler M/T's were bad enough at around $425.00 per tire!!!!!!!!!!!! Hmmm, now those M/T's prices are starting to look better now!!!!

k30, that's just what I heard the price was at this point. Something about them being a prototype rockcrawler only tire. Just for the guys competing, so goodyear priced them so high that other folks couldn't afford them. That's the buzz I got from the pirate board, but then again someone might have just been blowin smoke.

k30guy, I was in at the Goodyear dealer here in Tucson two weeks ago and they said Goodyear was comeing out with a 36" that will cost $750.00 each. Bill

WOW!!!!!!!!!! Well, they can keep those tires because they are not getting my business!!!!!!!!

They will find out the hard way one way or another when no one buys those tires. That means they will have to drop the costs down sooner or later!

Re: The stuff they used on today\'s \'Trucks!\' episode....

for that price i can get 44 inch super swamper boggers up here in canada. 44's are better than 37's anyways. haha the only good thing about those 37's is that they are radials. and they have a wicked tread on them. they would be great in the mud. but personally i would get boggers just for the excitment of being the first and only person in my town to get them. later.

The reason they are so expensive is because they are hand-made.

Re: The stuff they used on today\'s \'Trucks!\' episode....

That was a dumb show. They brag about picking it up for $1500 and then throw about $99999999 at it. That Dana 60 rear with the ARB and disc brakes had to have cost a fortune. Plus the tires and the front axle. Should've just got a 14 bolt and made the 10 bolt 8 lug and called it a day. And got some damn Swampers instead.

Re: The stuff they used on today\'s \'Trucks!\' episode....

Yeah, I agree. Where is anybody going to find an '88 K5 for that cheap? Unless one of the family members sold it to Mel or Stacey for cheap, then they arent going to find one that good of condition for that price!!!

I really thought they kind of go overboard with buying and installing aftermarket stuff. They need to gear the show more to the "cost conservative" crowd like you and me. Surely, nobody on this site could probably afford that D60 they used!!!!!!
mad.gif
And next weeks show where they are dropping in a new motor?!?! Come on!!! Not everybody here can do everything at one time like they can!!! Why not just modify the motor a little bit instead of trying to make us look like 'asses' with those high dollar axles, motors, etc.!!!!!!

What did they use for the front axle? Looked like a 10 bolt to me...I missed the first 15 minutes.

It looks like the episode comes on at 3:00 pm here in San Diego! It wasn't on today at 11:00am

Re: The stuff they used on today\'s \'Trucks!\' episode....

It was a 10 bolt all right. they had the axel shafts upgraded. I have to agree with everyone, even if I had that much money to spend, I still wouldn't go with a D60 and 10b. they could of had a nice 14b and D60 in the front.

Yea it was a 10 bolt. Eaton LSD, Warn shafts, etc. Big money for a 10 bolt.

Re: The stuff they used on today\'s \'Trucks!\' episode....

It was a beefed 10 bolt. 8 lug, some kind of locker or limited slip I think, all the gadgets.

As for opinions on the way they are doing things... How fun is it to watch them wrench on a beat down POS and put stuff any of us can put in on our own in a weekend? I know if they did stuff like we K5ers do every weekend I wouldn't have given a crap about the show. I watch it to see all the cool crap I can't afford go on. And doing it all at once, I HATE when they do projects in small sections. Like Hairy Hauler, Wicked Willies or Big Orange. Took them FOREVER to do the projects. I hate that. I'm glad their doing Project Blaze(LAME) all at once.

Re: The stuff they used on today\'s \'Trucks!\' episode....

I laughed at the $1600.00 K5 price tag and then they put a $2500.00 rear end in it and so on..................If everyone could afford all those goodies we'd all have the best of everything!

Re: The stuff they used on today\'s \'Trucks!\' episode....

Those tires should look real good the first time that truck flexes and gets hung on the fender LOL. At least they did a good job explaining pinion angle and how to correct it. To bad they didn't do the right thing and make a flexer out of it and got some ORD components on it.
