The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

holy S**T what a night! 1 day your luck might run out.:haha:

Friend just reminded me of this from that night while playing with the death lift.

Justin :"shawn the metal of the cab will not hold your truck"

Me : "hold on we're almost at a body line that will hold"

:doah:

Its all fun, just sad to realize my 07 is going to need a full restoration before it reaches four years old.:screwy:

Restoration? How bout body swap?

Keep it up man, at least you are having fun!:D

Speaking of fun..:doah:

Today I spent the whole day getting the buggy ready to go out tonight for some wheelin and good fun. Then came 7pm.. still lacked having the brakes bled and the seat with belts bolted in so I decided to just load the white truck up and go have some fun!

Get gas, load it up, gas up the tow rig, air up the air bags and set off. Beat on the truck and start jumping it, little at first and then kept stepping it up. Land nicly while gravity brings me down several times from 5-10 feet up:D

After 1/2 a tank, finally hitting 33,000 miles on the odo and loosing a tail light and a headlight I start just playing on the straits and the whoops. At full speed it all went to hell:crazy: Sound like some ex is trying to claw her way back into my life through the floor:yikes: Loud, very loud noises, trucks rpms go through the roof and I coast to a stop..

I thought i blew the rear driveline.. no big deal Ill fix it, or toss it in 4wd and drive on the front.. I toss on the hazards and think ill be looking for the rear shaft for a while.. I peek under there and transmission number 7 self destructed:doah:

So.. I set off to now find my ruined jack shaft.. broke off tail housing, misc seals, broken out put shaft and my slip yoke... Get my buddy to give me a ride to go fetch the tow rig and trailer.

I am feeling all happy that I have a trailer and winch.. get it all set up and the housing on the winch self destructs:1zhelp: So now im in the middle of a deep sandy wash.. ..no winch and no truck to get it on the trailer.. and my come along I would have had I loaned to some random broke jeep on a trail two months prior:doah:

Fawwwk me.

Go..drop trailer near hill... hook short strap to 07 on the back on the tow strap.. get some random dude to steer it.. get the 07 to the top of a hill..pull off strap..have guy hold brake..go hook back up to trailer..walk up long ass hill.. hop in.. coast down.. and finally get on the trailer..

But wait.. its only 11pm..ok.. back down the wash in 4x4 with the truck and trailer to camp. Then disconnect the truck and trailer and go wheel the towrig for a bit:D

So now its time for trans # 8 "or 7" hell I have lost count:( At this point it looks like a u-joint in the jack shaft failed or the rubber trans mount itself failed, allowing the tailshaft to shift and put too much angle on the jack shaft. Or.. the out put shaft failed and took the whole operation down. Not positive just yet. A drive shaft loop on the jack shaft might have saved this from happening though:doah:

This transmission was holding great abuse wise though, bummer is the truck has been driving really nice on the street too and I was enjoying driving it around a bunch.

Off to the drawing board, and too think I was wanting a supercharger or nitrous..

putting in a 465 or an allison?

With 5.38's I really need an overdrive. An allison is out of the question for me. A) I do not want to pay for it up front when I have all the 4l80 stuff already b) I can afford to break 4l80e's... Allison hard parts are not cheap! C) Im already so good at swapping these!

Went and talked to my transmission guy tonight.. spent the evening helping him move trailer loads of crap.. end of the night he tells me he'll warranty both halves of the tranny, he just wants to go out next time talk it out. :haha: what a cool guy, this time he will let me help tear it down so I can find out if my internal were showing any wear yet.

Way cool guy! Im going to pull this one out in the next day or two and get the stub shaft dropped off to my driveshaft guy. Hoping to make it to Moab for EJS

side note, I think the 4l80e in my tow rig is a little slippy too :(

just went out to take a close look and snap pics,

looks like my trans shifter cable is done for, sucks cause that was retardedly expensive from the dealer and I just replaced it a couple transmissions ago. "time is now measured by transmissions"

-cross over pipe on my exhaust is beat to hell and needs repair...

-huge chunk of metal by the floor missing

-yoke on the 205 is cracked

Good thing is im used to this by now, its almost funny at this point.

I always like this truck, dont see many 30k mile trucks get driven like yours haha.

With that 205 you got either a vss ring in it or an adapter on it?

And ya, 8 transmissions in 30k miles, dont think your covered lol.

Holy cow you are my hero. :eek1:

I so need to go out for a "drive" with you, you can't drive my truck though. :haha:

I just cannot imagine how you survive. :haha: It is simply amazing how much damage you can do to a truck in an extremely short time.

No VSS on the t-case. Im considered doing it but its never bugged me. However in 4lo the truck thinks Im going 100 when I am actually going 50.. but.. again I probably should not be jumping the truck n 4lo at 50mph anyways I suppose:screwy: :D

Usually I am just in 2wd when Im going fast, if there is crawling, I will toss it in low and just leave it there till the rev limiter annoys me as I try to go fast.

the high lift signed its autograph into the side of the cab:doah:
You're definitely an inspiration to us older fellas.

You need a different username. Something along the lines of "tranny guy" just to see if others can figure it out.
