The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

are you playing for these transmissions out of pocket or are they discounting them? or is he trying to build the baddest ones so hes now just warranty claming them??

He replaced 1 out of warranty and to be nice, but we just had to swap out the case that I broke and a new input. Then when I blew up that one I REALLY killed it.. The pocket is crying but its worth it I think. Ended up doing a shift kit, some redlines some anti walk bearing or bushing thing and some lucas trans fluid to fill her up.

here is the parts from the last one we took apart today to build.. wound up having to replace some parts from another one of my cores:eek1: The pics are from the trans that was locked up and I had to yank the truck off my trailer with my dads D-max.

input shaft..

pretty crazy stuff, no wonder the truck was locked up:haha:

The trans I just pulled out today was a stock unit I put in last minute with a stock converter and hated it. I then lost reverse and OD was slipping and I didn't want to show up to the mud bog tomorrow with it.

Took about 20 minutes to take it out, a few hours to get one together and wait on parts and a whopping 15 minutes with 2 guys helping to get it in and another 10 minutes messing with the fluid and shifter :)

Just drove it home, feels rock solid again:pimp:

OK, back to work I go.

Nope, he's been killing 4L80E's the whole time. Remember it's a 3/4 ton.

Out with the alison trans info already!!! Im interested even if shawn aint!

My trans guy about begged me today to go to a 400.. and that is the plan. When you have to tear 3 4l80e's apart to have enough guts to build one it becomes a headache:haha:

Being the truck is more of a toy I am thinking BUILT th400 with billet input and output shafts, upgrades for everything, go stand alone for the motor and delete the cats.

I just hope I can start gathering parts before this trans goes into retirement. :dunno:

We figured out tonight.. my truck has 32,485 miles on it.. I lost my first trans at 23k.. so that is a average of 1 trans every 1000 miles for the last 10k....:sign7:

We need a outline of what you are doing :doah:

trans # 10 and new rear suspension in the 07..

dana 44, sas, new frame, lift and utility bed to convert to 06 to a long bed..

2 china trucks turned 4x4 with geo metro engine/transaxle and sami axles..

that covers the current projects:doah:

Well, the 400 has the same low roller clutch and planetaries as the busted-ass ones you posted pics of above. They also have a MUCH weaker intermediate sprag unless you replace it and the direct drum with the 4L80E parts.

So, when you get done blowing 400's to pieces, you know where to find me :D

He did mention putting some 4l80 parts in the 400, I have no issue ditching the OD and 400's have been proven to hold up to much more abuse.

I am not interested in the allison, at least I can handle parts for a 400 or 4l80e and easily as well as cheaply find them or a whole core. If by chance I did manage to break hard parts in an allison I wont be yanking it from a junkyard with hand tools on a lazy sunday and parts are.... $$$$$

Its 4 am and I am loosing steam. Earlier managed to get the hoops figured out, cut and the plates made. Passenger side is welded on and I decided to change the shocks too, these are about 2 inches shorter than I want.
