Don't worry he pisses me off all the time:doah:

It's not that Im being an a$$hole or anything, but I have spent a LOT of time and money to understand how to make the Allison work stand-alone or in apps that it never came offered in, without spending big $$$ on other aftermarket solutions that only give you 5 speeds, even on a 6 speed trans. I'm not going to just give that that information away on a forum. Sorry...

then why bring it up? :dunno::rolleyes:

I was offering to help Shawn install one in his truck to cure his woes, and it would make a good test mule since Shawn abuses $h!t (he also doesn't realize it, but it wouldn't cost any more than a built 400 with billet parts, and he wouldn't break Allison hard parts - even DMax guys making 1200lb-ft and sled pulling don't break allison planetaries). I will gladly help anyone install one, but not for free. It can't be for free, because it requires a recal of the Allison controller, which costs money for a license credit to begin with. For a stock 6.0 truck that is drive by wire, you can redo your stock harness for the Allison, and a PCM reflash is required. For a non-drive by wire 6.0, you can either convert it to DBW (which also requires a reflash of the PCM) or run a stand alone setup. All other apps are stand alone, which requires a module to accept TPS inputs and feed to the Allison TCM.... which costs money. So, even if I told you how to do it, you still couldn't unless you have the capability to reflash GM PCM's and Allison TCMs for a 6.0 app, or reflash Allison TCM's and build a microcontroller-based throttle interface module.

Right now, NOBODY can make a 6 speed Allison work stand alone, and as far as I know, NOBODY can put one behind a 6.0 and interface it to the stock PCM, except GM (but never in a production truck). Fleece has been promising a stand alone 6 speed solution for several years now, and now claims they will have one in a few weeks (after I mentioned I know how to do it). Everyone else has given up and does only 5 speeds, and charges up to $1600 for their controller. So, what it boils down to is that the knowledge I have gained is pretty unique and valuable, and I see no reason to simply give it away, especially when other companies would end up profiting from it :deal:

I can understand this POV...if a person has time and money invested in a trade secret, it is not in that persons' best business interest to let out his information to competition.
Sounds like he is willing to help Shawn with a price break, but to give away technology in a rapidly advancing technological world doesn't make good business sense.

And Shawn, if your tearing up 4L80E's how are you not tearing up D44's?

Because he has a dana 60 in the 07.
It is the 06 which he just did a SFA swap that has the dana 44.
I don't even think he has locked the hubs yet on the 06.

Give him time.

:waytogo: got it. I think your right, its only a matter of time.

Wow lots to talk about:D

1st... as much as greg drives me nuts he has a valid point on his info.. I still won't be doing an allison in the 07.. grag if you want a test bed Id consider putting the cash into my 06 and we can talk about it. You're still an ass:thumb:

2nd.. oh the 06 has hubs all right..

Went down to my driveline guy on Saturday morning and he let me put it up on the lift to check some things and install the d-shaft, also snapped some pics of the exhaust and the front drooped.

Front shaft.. also picked up a spare 1410 u-joint for the rear a spare 1310 u-joint for the front to carry on the truck and new hardware.

CIMG1447.jpg

Had a 1350cv I used from a superduty, the front is just a 1310 till I put a 60 in it. I had them machine out the pilot part of the cv to fit the 241 as it was different.

CIMG1448.jpg

Pic of the rear shaft, you can see how I converted it from a 1 piece to a 2 piece. I just welded in a piece of 2x2 angle and placed it inside the cross member and welded it up, worked great and easy. I used a stock 2 piece shaft from a single cab long bed and just had the rear lengthened.

CIMG1446.jpg

New exhaust. Its dual in and dual out then to a Y to a single tip. I had the guy tuck it up nice and high on the frame too.

CIMG1445.jpg

Full droop.. impressive but I will need to change the shaft to a long slip or add a limit strap..or maybe both. While on the lift the front shaft fell out.

steering, WFO 2" raised cast arm

Diy4x4 spring hangers, very very simple, I may add some plating to the side or a tube in between the two hangers.

tempting..

Saturday was a nutty time..

When I got back from Phoenix Rack & Axle I went over to my buddy at 4 Wheelers supply in Phoenix and changed out my front shocks to ones couple inches longer...then had a rat race to get the trailer full of scrap over to the metal recycler, the shock hoops on and welded, a grill back on the 07, fluids and loaded up.

I ran out of time for my rear hanger on the 07 that were trashed, just the bolt was holding the rear spring eye on the rear springs and the hole it went through was wollowed out:doah:

I literally did a nasty 10 minute fix:whistle: welded washers over the hole and used random scrap and tabs to build the outer part of the hanger.. its nasty and I didn't even clean or cut the metal I used ..one side is defintly not like the other toohaha:haha:

Loaded up and put the 06 through its first tow test.. I really missed my air bags and will be making extensions for them asap.

Here is a vid someone put together of the derby for my buddy mike, round 1 qualifier is not much but if got way better at the last round!

Then the mud bog..

the white widow truck had a bad blow out on the way with his tow rig.. he looked kind of silly pulling in lol

It was crazy crazy packed. I only got to run the truck6-7 times there was so many trucks.

In the competition they did a 36 and down and a 37 and up class. There are a few big boys there, one is the mudslinger with a single seat mid engine nasty big block, others were a couple of mild big blocks on v-treads.

I beat out my 1st 2 rounds and the mud slinger beat me as expected.. but not by much:D I managed to kill everyone off the line with my secret weapon ... 5500 rpm neutral drop:haha:Launches amazingly hard.

One of the v-trad big block guys rolled the round before I raced, him and I would have had one hell of a race if he had of finished this one.. He is ok:thumb:

Youtube vid of the roll, can someone remind me how to direct link the vid?

Ran out of time to bleed the brake on the 07.. forgot about that and ran out of room in between me and my trailer when I pulled up at the end:popcorn:

So sunday about 5pm I get a call for adventure..

The red jeep I built for my friends son broke a rear axle.. I had been telling him with his new 35" bfgs he would need them.. sure enough

The were way back in Table Mesa and he was on a pretty fun trail called Terminator and he needed tools, the shafts, fluids and he had no idea how to do any of it. "17 year old kid but a very nice and smart one"

My buddy dave with the yellow jeep I borrow sometimes had led a trip to take some nice people from Minnesota wheeling so they were screwed and it was getting cold and dark quick. His some nate drives the red one I built, its locked but stock axle shafts.

So I looked at my options..I didn't want to tow that far in the 06 on a trans I do not trust and with 4.10s and 37's it sounded like a bad time. Driving the 07 was out of the question on 44's and tons of weight in mud all over the truck... the 2wd dodge was a no go..

HMMM but I had this new 44 under the 06.. it was already loaded with my tools, fluids, and what ever I could need.. I headed out there with some spare 35 shafts I had left over from the axle work I did on another jeep 2 weeks back and hit the road

Hour later I got to lock in my hubs and crawl under the truck to engage the 241 for the 1st time into 4low....

Took the truck where it shouldn't go but came out alive and only with a few dents to tell the tail. To say my truck had business being back in here is an understatement lol pics do little justice I had to really take it easy to prevent myself front getting hung up, high centered or breaking something! Even worse would be I was the only real mechanical person out there..so any screw up would have put some real weight on my own shoulders.

Repair went easy other than the part of the shaft with splines was stuck in the locker so I had to pull the whole axle apart and pound the left over piece out of the detroit.

Random pics of the land barge ..there were more than one 18188181003 point turns that occurred lol Truck did amazing though, even had to cross water up to the cab

Was a good shake down run to say the least

Ill be moving the front axle 1 inch forward or so, hearing the tires every two seconds on the body got a little distracting while trying to watch for rocks trying to eat my body.

pretty solid man. feels good when your freshly done project shows up and gets sh*t done like that.
