The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

216,xxx is ok for mileage price seems alright. they have head gasket issues in the early years not sure how the later years do

How many miles you getting out of your gas trucks or have you not had one long enough to figure it out, as how long they lasting
What about mileage

My 06 has 192k on it and prior to the 37's it felt fine but the utility bed and tires have bogged it down. The pain in the butt is I would need to swap in the new front axle and 4.88 gears and a clean bed on it. I get it seems around 10ish with plenty of highway.

If I did the d-max and was to sell my 06 I would probably go ahead and do another radius arm front and a ball joint 60. Its not like I don't have enough projects.:doah:

I sometimes really wish I could simply drive a car and sit in a office and not have a crazy hobby.$$$$$$$$$

This is a nice option and price over a new chevy d-max I considered before, hell its 1/4 the price. I also considered a used cummins but I just hate the damn interior so much that I cant consider it, and everyone would hound me if I towed with a ford.

arrr!

i think 07 was the first year for the dpf on the chevers. but i dont remember them having any problems. besides you could rip that crap off and it would be 10x better then the current one.

Well the trick to it is to buy the D-max and then put the utility bed on it and put the old bed on the 06' sell the 06.

As hard as this may sound, leave the D-max alone, it will run fine, tow fine and be nice. Or just build it and buy a nice car for the ladies :woot:

Your project shouldn't be your work truck :D

Thats some good thinking...the beds even the right color. Id leave the dmax alone with the utility bed. Cleanup the 06, change the rear and do the 488s. Make the dmax the work truck, the 06 the daily driver and the play truck stays the play truck....lol. Or i guess sell the 06 for a decent car...wouldnt be me tho...lol.

Classic does not have DPF. If the truck has had good service record it should be fine.

Spent half the day getting stickers off and 4 years of dirt..

Off to the mud races tonight all the way on the other side of town.

Towing with the new d-max cant wait to feel the difference :woot:

I hoping with it being a 3500 hd it would handle it, guess not.

I just got done getting parts to extend the 06's bag mount, looks like i need another set:doah:

off i go

You back yet how did it do

Well...

Went "ok"

Damage:

Rear drive shaft

front left inner and outer chromo shafts and the u-joint

pealed the 44 off the rim and tore the bead

rear driveline yoke

Transmission is shot, sounds like a fork in a blender, takes lots rpms to move.

When I came out of the mud bog I turned real sharp and with a truck in the way drove up a huge wall/pile of dirt and it would not back off it.

Next thing I know the truck is on fire, the rear shaft went to hell and the truck is not happy:eek1:

Jumped out, put out the fire, truck is still running..hmm no fluid anywhere like I hoped as it would have been a simple issue with the trans line.

Hoped back in, front right tire is off the bead and it tore, said the hell with it and gave the 6.0 all it had till it made it off and while getting to the trailer and through the mud the front left chromo shafts on my last remaining tire with power decided to walk off the job and explode to pieces.

Put a spare on and 1 wheeled that turd up the trailer where she sits now. Hell of a night, poor truck but had some fun!

Next event is in two weeks, looks like I have some work to do:doah:

You need to put all your broken parts in a pile and take a picture. I'll make a new Motivation Poster since your carnage count put mine to shame.
