went ahead and finally bought a utility work top, i might add a roof rack/tire carrier and kc lights with a shovel mount, I like it more than I thought I would!

top is an aluminum A.R.E. and has the side compartment on one side, led lights and even carpeted roof liner and lights inside as well. light enough for two guys my sixe to lift up and slide on with ease. also got the ladder rack to use as a base for the roof rack.

looks cool man

wow this is a whole different truck

the only thing i would change is the front bumper. but thats just my opinion

"did u dent the bumper on drivers side?? how??"

crazy piece of road hazard off a work truck, freaking scaffold "sp?"! wtf! lol..needed a alignment real bad after it happend too!.. Im going to deal with it rill I come up with a nice way to make a plate bumper.

well well well

the dana 60 gods are shining on me again!:woot: :hack: :weld: :grind: for the price I guess Ill make a road trip..

at any rate 2 plans right now.

PLAN ONE

ls6 intake, fast 90 throttle body, jba headers, air flow research heads, custom tune, dual magnaflows "tired of the flowmasters", higher lb injectors and 4.56 or 4.88 gears in the rear instead of 4.10s.

plan 2

3 links pan hard on dodge coils, lower brackets from ballistic mount the coil, lower link and shock to the axel, nice and clean. All links from aluminum, lowers 2 inches with 1 inch rebuildable tephlon hiems or the new 2.5 or 3 inch johny joint. uppers and panhard, as well as tie rod from 1.5 inch aluminum. On steering parts I want tie rod ends for long life.

I have a 205, and I have located someone to machine the adaptor to bolt it up to my 2wd 4l80e tranny.

truck will go up a couple more inches..

the crazy I idea is to locate a dually bed and rear axel and run the 38 inch michilin xls since they might be narrow enough to run in a dually application with out spacers. this would also make the truck stable for once and while when I tow the buggy or something to the trail...I really think this would look sick!:D

and last but not least, before I drop a dime I want to look real hard for a
d-max version of my truck, If I can find a good deal I might do all of this to it and sell my current truck. Im having a hard time finding a low mile single cab d-max though and I dont want a bran new one. I only owe about 7,xxx on this truck so I would not have to big of a cost differance.

thoughts on the dually set up?

:grind: :weld: :hack: :saweet: ..............:doah:

oh I am am commited to finishing the buggy before I do tackle this project!

outta control! what are you going to drive while this truck is down? sorry, no helpful input.

Wow, that is a sweet looking truck! I actually love the front bumper, I think it looks mean! I should not read this thread though, you are making me want to lift my tow rig/DD, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Mine looks so plain by comparison, NO, MUST RESIST! Anyways, sweet looking truck, I like the work/play attitude to it, if you are going to spend a lot of time in your truck, you might as well enjoy it!:waytogo:

well If I can find a decent price and low mialage single cab 06 ot early 07 diesel then I could just keep using it till the new truck was transformed into what I want. I also am having more and more thoughts on an extended cab but with a long bed and extended cab it and being a dually I think it would go from being fun to being a pain in my ass to drive. at any rate I could put it on the military 38's once the solid axel and coil set up it finished, all I would need then would be the bed, axel and two more tires..

my mind is rolling, I am borrowing a d-max on friday for the day from my grandpa to see if I really want to do this or not. it would be alot less hassel to just build my truck. i am very in love the performance of a diesel but I like a throuty or raspy sound of a healthy v8 over a clanker any day.

you won't feel this way after that day with granddaddy's truck! :wink1:

well I drove it, and I very much enjoyed it:laugh:

so i just spent the last 2 hours at the same dealership where I bought my current truck,

thoughts:confused:

Stick with what you have, maybe pay it off or get close to. Then figure out if you want to SAS it, or get a new dmax and do the work to.

I decided to stick with what I have and just pick up a second smaller pickup like a tacoma or ranger/s10

the little trucks can be had for under 4500 in great shape around here and they will knock down double and near tripple my gas mpg's I currently get.

for days I need a truck with some back bone or ground clearance..ill drive the HD.

OK.. back to the fun

the guy I sold my green 86 to offered me the michilin xl's for a trade on a set of 15x10 rims..

so for 200 bucks I get the xl's..

Now I just have to decide if I want them on now = body lift:crazy: and re-gear:D

later on after the buggy is done and I find a small truck I'll tear into the solid axel swap

I too like the front bumper you already built for the truck, maybe a stinger but not all the way to the bottom of the hood. I would go just above the grill bar.

As to the duramax ....... seams like alot of work to another truck and alot of money. Maybe if you can take stuff off your current gas truck you could save some.

Balzer

commence the solid axel swap!

started picking up the parts today:crazy: :shame: :hack: :weld: :saweet: :yikes:

now I really need to get a second pick up.

I found a clean 91 with a 6.2 for 3900 but the repair cost would be a lot higher that a 4 banger in a yota
