The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

Dood... You're a maniac. But, lots of cheap yotas down there, even a Nissan (I prefer the hardbody) would fit the bill.

Maybe you should buy a car. Pretty hard to wheel a car- but I'm sure you'd find a way... :haha: Maybe a really low car? Corvette, perhaps?

hmm

thoughts on if I should do a driver or passenger drop 44.

I picked up a pass side drop but have yet to make a final on what 205 I am using, so the ford case is still an option.

at this point the springs look like they will be a dodge 3/4 ton lift coil

decided on 1.5 250 wall for the links using a combo of bushings and joints. and all brackets will be from ballistic since my grinder just does not have the clean cuts a cnc does..im so shocked..

anyways we have a customer at the shop who trashed his front end, needs pretty much my whole lift as well as the a-arms and a host of other front suspension parts so it looks like the stars aligned just right..ill find out monday.

I may wind up in a rental though if I dont choose a pick up real soon..damn tacomas are hard to find cheap and in decent shape!

Driver's drop may help with exhaust clearance, but the pass drop stuff is usually cheaper and easier to find. Are you planning on using a divorced 205? Are you sure a 44 will hold up to the rockcrawling this rig is going to see? :haha:

It only needs tomake it to the first roll over of the first trip then its a loss anyways:doah: :haha: :haha: :haha:

lol

no rockcrawling per say, but I am known change my mind, I have already spent the money when I lifted it, now I have a chance to make it 4wd and get what I payed for my lift to do so.. seems like a win win.

I drove a crap load of miles to nap a 60 and the dang thing was an external hub 44 when I got there..the guy said "oh, sorry" lol so im fine with a 44.

my 86 on the same tire/wheel combo with myself and its new owner have yet to kill a locked 44 so im at least going to dream that it will pan out for now. Im not trying to build the truck to crawl I just am real annoyed at the last time I got stuck with a trailer behind me.

I had no one around, had to unload and disconect the trailer, unload the truck and use a flip flop to dig my truck out:crazy: its gone alot of places with just a rear locker but it could really use a front axel. Not to mention my last camping trip I had to go rent a 4x4 truck since the road went to hell and back after some good rains.. so im sold on doing this now!

after its lifted and im happy with the results I get the t-case in and swap/modify the drivelines. Then Ill re-gear to 4.88s and later on tear into the motor:D

If your not really rockcrawling , and its for not getting stuck camping , why not just grab the outers/halfshafts/case/driveshaft from a recently deceased late model pickup :dunno:

You get to keep the lift you spnet money on .

I get most of the cost of going solid axel for what I am selling the lift for..

not to mention if I was to swap to stock 4x4 I would probably need so custom tune/wiring, change my 2wd tranny or cut down the out put, then deal with getting a pricy stock t-case..then you have the fact that the factory 4x4 parts are not cheap, add the fact that most people/not many who are doing this have most often destoyed the factory 4x4 parts. And seemingly almost all of the solid axel swapped trucks are a 1/2 ton anyways..creating more tranny/t-case issues with swapping.

You sir are a nut. You remind me of my brother changing his mind all the time, but there is a difference between you to. You seem to do what you plan.:haha:

Make sure to post lots of pics, im interested in seeing this swap done.

damn, was talking to a friend and he mentioned an article..found it

2400.00 but it sure would speed up my timeline and get me back in my truck right away.

I also looked at headers and exaust..$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$:doah:

after seeing the cage kit I am really leaning towards it.. or maybe at least buying their radius arm kit with brakets "$700.00" the link material alone would be about the same and this means less work. maybe just buy those and build the rest:confused:

after all the thinking, and time with the truck up on the car lift today I think that is just the road I will go down.

radius arm with axel brakets 725.00
progressive rate coils 175.00
ballistic adjustable upper coil mount/pair 65.00
ballistic fab coil retainers 4 @ 7.00 30.00
ballistic panhard frame mount 20.00
ballistic panhard axel mount "have already 0.00
panhard hiems/material ect have already 0.00
steering from wfo/highsteer with knuckle 675.00 est

that a ruff 1700 plus shipping and some harware

still leaves the shocks, ill just build a shock hoop for them. I might go bling bling for adjustable bilstine res shocks $$$ or normal shocks..200-450

I have a 44 already but its pretty junky so I may go with another 175.00

then we have the 205, adapter and spacer..est 600.00 +

then there is the front drive line, "have one" cut/balance

rear drive line gets a cut/ and balance too figure for both 300.00

and new rims for the xml's since my current rims are 17's..450-750

regear both diffs to 4.88s..the g/f dad owns a gear shop so ill figure parts only since he likes me at this point and time lol so est 500.00+ a favor

front lock right or powerlock 300-375

long tube headers, high flow cats/and 50 series/tube = 1200

I figure about 6200.00 or so to do it clean and right with a little bit of upgrades or fun parts

-800 a friend who wants my current tire wheel combo
-1800 for what I could get the shop to hand me for the lift/ a-arms/ parts.

I would probaby do the swap and get the axel under there with new shocks, then do the gears and driveshafts and put on new tires after a week or to to keep the down time to a minimum. them their is still the air flow research heads, the throttle body and vett intake..$$$$ those are another 3500 on top... $$$$

come here truck..:grind::weld::hack:

Dude I'm digging the chaos! Does nothing but inspire me! Keep up the good work and be sure to post a lot of pics. We like pics! :D

Don't forget to budget in $25 for the membership fee... we like to see you around the lounge every now and then Shawn... I think your truck would enjoy some lounge time as well. :D :haha:

For a DD/ work truck, I'd forget about locking the 44. Leave it open, or throw a Truetrac in it. I'd twin stick the 205, as well.
