The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

Did you get my extinquisher mount out first???

yup!:waytogo: and being how my tools are spread all over like a f-5 came though that single task took longer than the whole time I spent cleaning the yard loading the trash:doah:

and if you read this were going to buffalo wild wings right now

Man, even all beat up I love the look of your '07... I have a special spot in my heart for standard cabs though. :)

the 86 is finally put to rest

A lot of people would think the '07 was in need of ebeing put to rest.:doah:

I agree. Having to pay for a new truck like that, I think I`d cry while it was being wrecked. I just couldn`t watch it, a $2000 trail rig, yeah, but a $20000+ rig? Nah.....

Most of that won't take any $$ besides some steel and time, he already has the coil overs.

Let me know if you need any help.

And I thought the rear was already a C.V.

Don't forget Tie rod.

I say cut the roof, and when you do, I want to watch...

If the roof is simply spot welded in place and sealed, then it should come out relatively easily and cleanly. Just use the tool designed for drilling out the spot welds, and it will be an easy matter to line the sheetmetal back up and spot weld it back in. Any halfway decent bodyman could R&R the lid and you would never be able to tell. Now, whether Shawn has the skills needed or not is another story...

im fine with removing it, at anyrate I could get a watchful eye or tips from one of the guys at the body shop. Looks like next week ill be ripping the axle out and getting the madness started.

Removing good body panels without focking 'em up is actually the hard part. If you are successful in doing so, then putting it back in isn't too hard.

or rgv72blazer, you could give supersize your duramax and let him swap it into his 07:haha:

taking a week off of work to get some repairs done,

got the axle, t-case out, all brackets cut off and the frame ready for some repairs.

cut out the damaged area, then, a patch panel inside the frame, out side the frame and then a final plate will go from the front body mount, all the way to the cab body mount and contour to the curves..then a few holes added in and some pretty plug welds.

also working on a truss for the 60, a piece of 2"x6" 188 wall. it will run from one ] all the way to the other [ on the axle to add some beef to them as well. Also on the list is some thicker material on the t-case cross member, since the other failed and a new engine cross member with a impact plate and skid and incorporated into it will be the new track bar mount..

lots to do but cant wait to air it out with the new coilovers and added beef!

the fun continues tomorrow, also have a pretty cool idea for the rear, Get a flat bed, narrow it a bit and add removable fiberglass bed sides that mount in the stake pockets with compression clamps..I could easily pull em off, truck looks good and I could load it and not worry hmmmmmm

Today worked on the truss, cut it out, preheated and welded it up..looks sexy:D

also mocked up a 2 inch 250 wall dom tie rod with 1" 1/4" hiems.. BEEF? having clearance issues with the cover and gears at full lock, so if I choose this route I will need high steer.. working on that too if it will clear the pan and crossmember:D we shall see if im so lucky

more progress on the frame, we added a plate inside the frame, then another plate where the frame was and finally one more plate will run from the body mount to the other body mount with plug welds through out.. yes.. thats 3/4" thick:screwy::weld::pimp: add that it will tie into the double engin crossmember, then the frame connectors to the rear spring mounts, and the skid plate flat belly crossmember set up.. sounds BEEFY And alot of welding:doah:

How hot did you preheat the axle? Just the housing or the tubes too? I'm debating the classic tube/housing question: to weld or not to weld. :D .... but I want to make sure the welds are good and strong and the axle doesn't warp etc...

ah bummer, the highsteer set up will not clear everything:(

frame plates finished, preheated and welded up!
