The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

I decided to take some time and think about my next direction with the truck. The changes I want to make, cage, built crazy trans, atlas, new tires come to an easy 10k conservatively. Im trying to decide if I want to take it that far, choose another direction, or take the truck apart all together.

I want a tow rig, hard core rig, daily driver with mpg, easy to park..hard to get it out of 1 vehicle, even two. I hate the idea of needing a 3rd truck.

I have the white truck, beat on toy, used once in a while for work/trash. The colorado I use mainly for the gas savings and work, and then I have a blank spot for a tow rig.

I might decide to try to get a 4 door d-max and just swap my suspension and axles under it and put it on 37's...and kill off the white truck.

the other option is to simply just go big and bad, Fully cage it, removable panels, built trans, and a power adder. I have seriously thought about it and wanted to go to the next step..just hard to justify it and I need some thinking time.

Get a crew cab with the duramax, swap your gear out of the white truck into it then finish your buggy and call it good. Duramax for towing and heavy hauling, buggy for all off-road adventures and the colorado for dd duties.

The bummer with this whole swapping parts over to a d-max issue is I will want to start a new buggy build after I finish this one. I just want to have one done first, then build my little ultimate 4 seater while having one to wheel. The last thing I need is another project. No idea what the plan is yet, it would also suck to tear up another truck "destiny at work"

big power full sized diesels RULE. glueing the suspension junk under it is cake. The dmax you find wil have "virtually" the same shape frame as that white truck. rub out the white truck and call it a day/ if you're going to drop the roll on a super built auto it may as well be a suncoast Allison and it may as well live behind a 700hp duramax.

no brainer brother.

You need to stop tearing up your damn work truck/tow truck/daily driver. Get the Duramax, but DO NOT put any suspension under it! Run it stock! Enjoy the power and reliability it gives you and put ALL your money into the buggy. Keep the Colorado for your gas saver unless the Dmax ends up getting somewhere near it's mileage then sell the Colorado and just have the buggy and Dmax. If you have a truck to beat on, you already have the white truck. Use it for the weekend wheeler, the buggy for major outings, and the Dmax to get the buggy there. You will never build a daily driver/tow rig that will hold up to the abuse you put on your vehicles.

What he said.

I don't buy that, I wont conform.

the white truck needs a duramax and suncoast allison in it. IE turf the white truck. cause its easier IMO to move the suspension to a different chevy than move a diesel D-train to a gas truck. continue to beat on stuff as usual.

stock or not stock the man is going to wail on his junk. proven with driving the colorado 5 miles on a flat tire tearing the truck all to hell.
