The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

So sorry to hear about your dog. My little Jack Russel was killed in the road 20 yards behind me while working on my truck just a month ago. She NEVER goes in the road. What a heartbreaker.

So Sorry:frown1:

I love Jack Russell's, cute dogs no doubt.

And.. the 06 trans is in.. yay! um.. now if I could only find my damn pump to fill the t-case so I could drive it:doah:

so... left on the 06..

-Panhard.. got all the parts, may do this tomorrow afternoon.

-tail lights.. actually this should be be number one. damn things need a complete rewire thanks to the utility bed.

-Gears changed to 4.88's dunno if I will do both or just the rear and find a 60 for the front.

-Air bags put back to use, just got my spacers made for the airbags.. yay no more saggy ass when towing, might do a tank and compressor being I already have it too.

-then the bumper and paint.. ahhh so close!

Cant wait to finish this so I can work on the toys more:pimp:

shawn I hate you I have recently started looking around at utility body trucks for when I get out of basic to use as a towrig/DD. Your a great influence lol

Sorry to hear about Bear. RIP

Are you sure there is a D60 under all those brackets? I can't see it. :D

Once they are lifted they look pretty damn good:thumb:

Well its like 2:30 here. I took it for a test drive around 10 and my death wobble went into full effect with in the first couple hundred feet:rolleyes:

So... pulled back in the driveway and started on this track bar that I have been needing to do for a while. I should have done this from the start! Death wobble is gone and it feels and drives like a whole different animal:thumb: With the 52's and no trackbar the shackles would lay over quite a bit and it was hell!

Had my buddy Aaron make me the brackets on his watejet at work, hiems are 3/4", brackets are made from 1/4" plate. I was going to order the ballistic track bar parts but their so so shipping or lack of parts on hand has finally scared me off from anything I want on a timeline.

pics!

axle mount parts, just had to bend the top over in the vice and weld her up. Damn breaker in my back porch popped non stop and made using the welder interesting but got her done:doah:

Then the frame side, had to butcher it a bit form its original shape with how low I put the trucks hight, other wise it would have been all over the u-bolts. Little bending of the plate with speed holes to conform and welded it up.

And on the frame, Now I can finally clean this hoop up and paint it like the passenger side.

Little busy under there, you can also see the steering draglink, I had one on there that was not bent and didn't like the angle so it got the Wfo one off the 07. Ill order another for that truck being this one works great and is now nice and flat.

Speaking of the 07.. I got to see what broke in the trans at the last mud bog.. sure enough it was the input shaft.. Hmm! I may just upgrade to a 300m input for the 400 now after all.

Ok off to bed I have to work in a couple hours!

Your running that truck with the 37 hummers right? How are you liking them? Thinking about getting some when I build myself a crew cab on some 16.5x8.25 steelies I got.

man I want a sas'd, 52'd, tracbared, NBS so so SO bad! nive work!

Ok but its only a fun project if you rip the entire truck apart to do it:doah:

Off to progress:D

With the 06 driving nice and I had no parts yet for the buggy or the jeep in my hands I decided to work on the mini truck.

Did a little plate work and pounded out some motor mounts, on the pass side I decided to move the power steering pump to get the mount higher and away from my d-shaft.. bummer is Ill have to hack up the pump mount or somehow space it but Its a decent trade off. Once the motor is out again Ill weld up some plates to box the tabs on the frame so they will be resistant to air time:D

With the motor mounted I decided to clean up the sami axle and remove the ghetto work on it:eek1:

:1zhelp:

Lots of random bolts tossed into and on the weld!

Then once the perches went from 37.5 to 35" I was able to tack em back on, Ill set the caster and weld on new non hacked sprin perches once the front and drivelines up up and happy.

Today I then hacked up the bed and put it back on to get a look, camera was dead but its bad ass:D

Also installed the wire harness and laid out the rest of it and the fuse panel, shifter and toyota steering column. The whole thing will be toyota other than the heater control:thumb:

Once my buddy chris gets his a roller with his rear Ill toss mine in its spot and start on the 3 link front.:pimp:

You better get a longer bolt for the passenger side engine mount, that one might not have enough thread engagement. :haha:

Looking good! :waytogo:

Ask him about shooting blanks.

lol

Not much going on in the truck world, played with the 06 some and have been on a few adventures with it. I did get the tires all balanced so its a pleasure to drive now. I had planned on getting the air bags back in it but the material was wrong, we have the right stuff now so maybe this weekend.

I can say that I am fully satisfied and had very pleased passengers after some high speed fun in the desert, I love the ride:thumb:

Been workin on the rubicon too but got slapped in the face:doah: I waited almost a month for parts from rockcrawler suspension "not happy" But dealt with it..

The the real pain was I have been short on time and I wanted the track bar moved from the old axle to the new one from the dealer or a new one fabbed up.

I let a shop do it who I thought did clean work and I am pissed. Not only could I have done better he cut into the axle pretty bad with the grinder. I let it go only to discover all his work was in vain because he failed to place the track bar in the right spot:angry1:

He placed it with the rotation to far to the front, so the draglink hits with any attempt at steering:doah:

I am now figuring out if I want to do it over myself, pay someone new or let him hopefully fix it. :dunno: I payed the 250 t get it super clean and done right the first time.. nope:doah:

Anyways.. put it back on all fours and tested out the set up.. still waiting on the shocks though:haha:

Found some fitting music.. while this may not look fun after the fact at the time it had the three of us laughing pretty good.

Wow where to start:dunno:

So the mud bog races were tonight "friday" and Monday I had pretty much decided I was not going to bother trying to go at all. Well then with the help of others decided I was not going to use my hughes th400 with the trans braks and reverse manual valve body:doah:

So called up trans guy and asked if he could have me one by wed, he said he is swamped and he had one of my old cores out back but we had never taken it apart to see what went in it.. and he was swamped. I told him if we can make it happen then great, if not then we order goodies and build a real one for once.

So he calls me at 4pm today! "friday"... turned out I blew up the rear planetary sprag thingy and he had it fresh and ready to rock but we have no output shaft tail shaft cone whatcha ma call it being we used one off this one for the one I blew the rear output and back half the tranny on last year.

5 pm I had the trans loaded and found another shop with the tail cone just down the road, and was headed home :pimp:

So made a call, had two helpers show up and we had the trans in there not to long after but got totally screwed on the trans lines fitting and AN line length. So had to rob parts from the buggy pile and after some making a bracket we now had a cooler with a fan on it and mounted and wired behind the pass seat:pimp:

After all the bs, borrowing a shifter selector off my 06, welding in a new tube on the crossmember, finding a dip stick, an oil change, trans fill, cooler and fan install and hardware searching, fixing the trailer, finding a pin, hooking up to another silverao.. we made it there just before 10pm. It was real slow being they switched to friday nights so I got to run it none stop almost:woot:

We found out a injector plug got damaged during the dip stick install, after we had it on 8 cylinders again it was kickin ass:popcorn:

Got the truck on 2 wheels on a tight turn so maybe someone got that on vid:D

Damage for the night was I broke a main leaf on one of the Deaver leaf springs, still went a few more passes but took it easy. It drove on the trailer by its own self so I call the night a sucess:thumb::thumb:

Now I have a full month to get it fixed and maybe finally start a cage being I do not have a trans that needs replacing. WHooo hoo!

Ill get some pics tomorrow hopefully.

Here is one pic of trans number 13 "lost count but that sounds right" going in.

Must have shaved and easy 10-15 minutes off the install time not having to use ratchet straps and none of us had to use our backs. Dowls lined up easy and just lifted the rear of the beam with leverage to raise the tail. Easy peazy.:thumb::thumb:

Thanks for the update! And thanks for the idea on loading the trans that way!

I sure hope no body else has to resort to my craziness to lift a heavy trans in a truck so many times:yikes:

A friend got some of the runs and put them in a vid, at the end you can see it run with the busted leaf. Pretty tame night all in all but glad to have went through the effort to get it out there last minute.

Another vid, my truck does not come around till 4:30 in the vid though "was busy installing a trans lol"

I hope to make it out to speed world in a few weeks, much better mud!

So its been a few weeks, new Deaver is on the way, need to fix the door, a body mount and I forget what else.

I cant decide if I should drop it down and back on 40's or just keep having fun on 44s and trashing everything?
