The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

So been super busy but should have updates soon:D

the 07 I had a trans built just as a stock rebuild and going to take mine out to finally get built. I usually get slow in december so should be able to get it installed pretty soon. Also on the hunt for a 08 style single cab to convert over to at some point.


the buggy, being that I am busy I decided to drop the 14 bolt front axle back to Andrew at letzroll offroad. Going to have him do the ballistic cover and shave kit for me, 2.5 psc double ended Ram, new artec keyed arms and matching keyed solid axle industries knuckles are ordered too.

Also having him make a me a couple more links, the ones off the last buggy had left and right thread and I really want to just switch over every thing to right hand tap for simplicity of spares. If any of you ever need links, Andrew has the hook up!

Now off to the real fun:D



Also making up my mind on the next project, ive been wanting to build a brute to replace the 06 ext cab truck. Well the final plan is to turn a tj into a scrambler instead :pimp: But maybe using the drivetrain and axles from the 06 rather than selling it...:dunno: Would move the axle back a bit to solve some of the overhang and use everything and all the wiring from the chevy, with some 37's to keep is reasonable. Wheel base would end up around 106" from the 93 that a tj is.

m excited about it because it will be different, actually fit places and I should reasonably be able to beat on it with armor and tube fenders from front to back :)

Tossed a trans in the truck and some new chromo shafts and went and had some fun, lane looked easy so had a little fun on my way in lol



didn't last long though. The stupid 50 cent clip that holds the trans line on kept popping off. I had bought some adaptors to to go from the factory style to a AN-6 and it just is not machined right, this is the 3rd or 4th time this has happened:angry1:

I got it to hold and then was a little peeved and drove the piss out of it, made it half way and the jack shaft blew a u-joint. What a bummer.

This weekend I hope to get my axle back for the buggy and start finally having some good updates:pimp:

Also looks like its time to come up with a better battery mount, after the jump at the fair the tray is ruined for the second time, my chevy if finally legit though as I have a rachet strap holding the battery lol

Sounds like an interesting project. The thought of turning my YJ into a Scrambler crosses my mind on a regular basis.
 
Mild progress, new dash bent up and started putting stuff in it, still need to have to corners welded by a shop or friend that can tig.


Started on the console and shifters too, this has proven to be tricky as I want the shifter placement, switches, winch control and what not to have great placement. In the last buggy when harnassed in I could not hit all the switches and it was a pain. The main headache though is my trans can only come out the top :( Being I seem to kill a lot of auto trans I am building this with easy removal involved.

The center and console is just a steel mockup for now that way its cheap to try a couple different layouts, final one will be aluminum formed over tube, maybe and with some bead rolls:pimp:


Hope to finish this up, the radiator mounts, battery mount and maybe the fuel cell mount this week or weekend.

Also got a new fuel cell made from a local guy, I picked up AN 6 female weld on bungs to use as my last cell has -8 and I had to run an adaptor that took up more hight.

The filler is a cast JAZ racing 45 degree piece with a cool spring loaded feature so when I roll over it is less likely to leak fuel to the fill hose and cap.


The cap is a a cool piece with a weld on flange to mount it to the chassis and a blue cap similar to my paint color with a o-ring to seal it:pimp:

I still need to make the tank mount and mount up the pump and filter, long term will be to modify it with a couple walbro pick ups and dual pumps "1 being a back up pump" so I am leaving space for it.

Last up is my seats. On my last buggy and on my truggy I had bought corbou 'sp" race seats. I will say at 169 each shipped they were a deal.. however the honey moon didn't last very long and the faded, ripped easy, turned from black to blue real quick and were just a big disappointment.,



This time I decided on getting something nice and looked around, after I got over the sticker shock compared to my crappy sets I decided to go with Twisted stitch seats.


I picked my colors, material, head rest size and shape, the higher bolster to keep me in on hard cornering, the slot style for the belts I want to run.

The center material is this cool anti slip grippy vinyl, the back and sides are a carbon fiber stitch, and the piping is blue like the buggy skins will be.

Also ordered up to bags to hold crap that will strap to the chassis, no idea where they are going but im sure at some point or trip Ill find a spot I like for em.


Seat belts will be a big hurdle to figure out, but considering simpsons belt that is half together on one side already, but fear this might be annoying for when I want to lap belt it only, dunno.

Hmm these pics do the seat no justice, there is a nice pattern in there too.

Last pics of the fuel filler, pretty nifty but not sure how the o-ring design will like me over time or if it will stick.

So I woke up this morning and wanted to wheel, problem was my buggy is a couple months off.


this saddened me very much, :(


So I called up my buddy james and took his offer to trade his buggy for my Extended cab sas truck.


No more sad face:D


Has some suspension geometry issues and the full hydro needs a orbital swapped in but other than that it should be a fun get me bye toy till mine is done.

44 with arb, ford 9 with i dunno for a locker, 5.38 gears, vortech 350 crate with tbi, th350, dana 300.

Seems like a good trade, might be easier to sell the buggy when you're done than the truck anyways. Especially once you work out the little bugs while you're enjoying it.
