The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

The Treyvon rims won't be staying on anything lol. Just was a hoot zipping around on 37's.

Slowly making a game plan on the duramax getting a solid axle too...

07 is a dead to me now :p

Ohh let start a party with the duramax :)

I didn't want to reuse the 14" kings off the 07, they were a little beat up looking and easy too big for this truck. I don't "plan" on going with bigger tires on this truck so figured 12" would be better.

These are fix 2.5x12" with internal bypasses. Hopefully it can get them set up right and not need bump stops. Wish me luck with the weight ..

What do you have against bump stops? It seems like you refuse to run them on any of your rigs.

I did some quick math and came up with this.

Big heavy truck
+ airtime
+ progressive suspension dampening

And don't even try to convince me that the truck won't see air. Everybody knows you better than that.

WHoa, he's alive!

Anyway, I've noticed that as soon as his trucks hit the ground on 4 wheels, they are on the road, so Bump stops just wouldn't work, since he would have to leave them on all fours without taking it to the street, and once they hit the street, they don't come back for bump stops.

I think Jasons figured out the algorithm.

This will have bump stops of some sort as a back up. I don't want another coil over going through my hood again lol. The bypasses don't need them though if I can get then set up right but Trevor at wfo has some cute brackets he uses that I'm going to give a shot.

Bought another 78-79 hp front so my 5.38 axles are for sale.

Glad the cab never looked this way while I owned it, happy to say during all my choas I never rolled the truck :)

Parts are starting to get lined up for the sas too!

Got a little messy yesterday! Only 4 trucks making it through the whole night, happy to be one of them. End of the night the engine was in limp mode = no fun

Another interesting afternoon.. Took the buggy out a local wash.. Sank the buggy, trailer broke a pin and caused hell, duramax I just had detailed got dirty.

On the plus side the buggy is cleaner and it needed a fluid change I suppose

Still waiting to start the sas on the duramax. Seems a lot of people looking to do a sas find this thread so I'll happily post this

Don't order from Jim Cole previously cage and currently busted knuckle

Sadly I'm too short on time to want to remake the frame brackets so I order them.. Still waiting. Couple years ago ordered replacement bushings verse spending the time to find out what they were and they showed up literally 6 months later.

Guy must have a worse memory than I do.

Took three emails and a fb message to get a hol of him just to get to order the darn things

Went to bb13, was supposed to have the sas brackets a month before.

Update 1 : left message and email... Day later nada

Thats bad service! Have you checked out and of the triple x fab stuff?

I have but I want to reuse the axle out of my 07 and it is already all set up minus going through the bearings, gears, seals and maybe a spindle or king pin bushing.

I figure ill never get my money back out of it so might as well use what I know and what is proven under my right foot.

Ill be doing a few things different but for the most part he 07 just turned into my duramax :doah:

I only use it to tow and go out and toss a few lake trips in the mix so I don't mind playing with it now.

The one concern will be finding a way to enjoy the Deaver springs while also having air bags out back. I hope the answer isn't removable bags but my non engineering mind is thinking something with pins/receiver type set up.

Can't wait to have it regeared, I hate the stock gears and 37's

Cantilever the airbags on a 3:1 ratio so 6" of bag travel is 18" of travel at the axle.

You could also use a 1:1 ratio cantilever with a quick disconnect link, similar to a sway bar disconnect.

You will have to use linkage of some sort and tuck the bags way up under the bed, you won't find an airbag to put on the axle with as much travel as you're looking for.
