The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

Bet it would be easier to tow with out the ton of dirt on the bed :D

Lol ya,

There is a coin op car was around the corner that does half off after 7pm.

Owner is cool with the buggy as long as I bring a shovel and broom to clean up after I'm done. We just leave the mud on the trailer till it dries and shovel it off later.

End up being 20-30 bucks, I don't have to worry about having a pressure washer I'd just run over anyways and I don't have a huge swamp at the house after. Worth every penny !

Back at it..

Fenders from Stout fabrication came in. Hot damn it's like Christmas with a fancier version of an erector set :grinpimp:

StoutFabrication.com! Custom Jeep Parts and Accessories

As mentioned before my wheel well is moved and the radius increased to 17"

I primered the back side and fender to seal it up, chucked them up there ,clamped them in place and let my creative juices flow.

Being these won't ever have a reason to come off I've decided to weld them on and fill the seams before paint, for most I'm sure they will just bolt them up.

I also have a idea for this build that involved a military/air craft/ rivet look.. But most rivets are not solid and I was blown away at the process and cost of real rivets..scratch that idea:barf:

I decided on 5/16 carriage bolts and flap wheeling the lettering off the head. I may later decide to try to anneal some carriage bolts and strike the head of them with a ball peen hammer..but I'm not that bored yet.

K off to the fun. First thank you to stout fab. I selected him because he was very enthusiastic about the idea, he had the ability to do it and the experience from his other product lines for yj/tj fenders. I've dealt with many vendors in projects and he is a rock star with the product and customer service :D if you are stretching your wheel base, tub or looking at some serious body work, I can't say enough about how awesome it is to work with new thick metal ready for those bumps and bruises on the trail.

Pics of them getting ready to head my way

Happy fed ex guy.. He got a new dolly finally

My "straight" fender after I removed the bondo...

61 holes later..

Going to make some more armor for the front and keep the rivet madness going..should compliment a pin up girl air brushed on there nicely

Also messing around with an idea for headlights.

By the time I buy the brackets, the lights, the light buckets it was going to be over 200.00 for crap lights I'll just destroy ..ya..no. I do love the look of set back lights though.

The headache withy he cool 9 slot mb grill is it has a funky 6 inch hole that's not even round. I remembered my steel supplier having round rings, went down and found some that were 6 inch in diameter for under 2 bucks.

Took my 23.00 amazon led light inside and sure enough the idea looked like it would work.

Couple quick tack welds and I like the idea. One bummer is the light will be too bright, but I have an idea to have a customer of mine thst does photo metrics see what the light is doing as a baseline and then maybe tint the lens a couple shades till it's about right :dunno:

I'll probably paint the ring a satin black to contrast the grill.

It's Shawn he has a super power to turn nice stuff into beat in almost no time at all. And he has a blast and makes most of us jealous :)

Oh yah i forgot. Wheres the booby pics? I feel like he has been holding out lately.

No idea what you are talking about as I sit here with the new girlfriend

I've resorted to playing with several trucks rather than several girls, got a good one on the hook :thumb: she is the one I took to koh, she was even in the duramax when I about flopped it over and she laughed.. Hine even outs up with all my lady friends :pimp:

She is the one in the white dress on my right

Also got the same wiring harness scaled down and stripped

Along with sorting out my head lights, the amber lights I'm trying to come up with a proper looking housing that is close to the army ones.

Slowly I'm getting out of control

Had a crazy last couple weeks but stayed up and played a little last night

Tail lights came in..

that should be enough leds, I still may clear and tint them black for a more authentic look when parked.

I've been trying to package the air shocks, we'll using another smaller set for mock up. The frame already has shock mounts but to get 5 or 6" up and package it using what I have is pointing me towards a 10 inch air shock.

But.. I had shock hoops waiting for the duramax..well hell why not mock them up reversed and the bypass coil overs while I'm at it..

Problem is I like it :doah:

3 link is mocked up too, bought brackets from that chappy service company somewhere south of here and cut them up for my needs.

20140605_195630_zps4e00cde0.jpg

So far..

-27" long lower links at 5 degree angle
-8 inch link separation at the axle for a 33"ish tire
-4 inch link separation at the frame
-Caster is easy to hit at 5-7
-Wheel base is 80-81"
-pan hard and drag link at the same 10 degrees

Going to trim up the brackets and build a bracket for the coil overs that is a little pocket to get it as low as possible next to the lower link mounts.

Couldn't use the high steer for the desired up travel and since I run into things I didn't want to notch the frame. Instead running a combo of fj60 arms as lowers and mini truck arms up top, puts the tie rod at the axle center and gives me the up travel.

Now if I could just talk myself out of using the coil overs:doah:
