The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

Ahhhh, my buddy and I were texting this morning kind of kicking ourselves for not getting our junk together and going to KOH this year.
It's been a few years since I've gone and when I did nobody else on here was there... now it seems like everyone goes.
Have fun at the backdoor shootout! I'll be watching. :)

That is one sweet trans case, I've wanted to build something as an excuse to use one since they came out, but my funds are a little low. I think Martin is jealous they don't make them for SM465s.

As long as he doesn't do neutral drops in that new case and trans, it should hold up just fine. Wait.... never mind this is shawn we are talking about.

Just put a trans brake in it, then neutral drops are slow!

To be honest, if you built it right, it probably could withstand neutral drops. I know a guy who used to do J hooks all the time (he would floor it in reverse and start doing a reverse burnout and then once he got a little momentum he would keep it floored and slam it from reverse to 1st and make J hook looking tire marks on the pavement) and occasionally he would shred the converter and take out the trans but he didn't care, he would just swap in another junk yard unit and do it again.

With an auto trans, the plantery gears are always meshed together, so there is no grinding gears, just hydraulic pistons and clutches that engage and disengage.

Look at the nice internal case lugs a full 360 degrees around, beef.

Bad news on the adaptor, I hope you get it overnighted and fixed.

My buddy with the liquid iron chassis car that I codrive for was pushing me to build my own car. I downright refuse because I know competing will ruin it for me....

I have a feeling that if the willys turns out to be what I had envisioned that I'll have a much more economical and enjoyable wheeler.

I love the idea of simple basic-ish parts and a vehicle with character. Brents S10 is a great example

But I've never really been one to stick with any vehicle forever so who knows.

I just couldnt stand that competing basically made the idea of just wheeling for the sake of wheeling some ridiculous concept to him...

So..

Picked my new pretty trans up from the trans shop at 7pm.. Made it back to the shop around 9 and stabbed the trans in.

But.. As usual with fancy parts there is a catch. In my case it turns out I need a 10 inch converter. Being this all wasn't planned I didn't find out in advance.

So we leave in 30 hours.. I hope road runner torque converters in the morning has one on the shelf or can make one. Worst case I have to wait till the afternoon.

Alans car still doesn't roll, drive, stop, brake, steer, run or anything and it's leaving too haha.

I got to take a pic from 2000 miles away.
