The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

whichever fastener you use be sure to make them not in line along the bottom.....

I used a lot of 1/4" rivnuts on mine and #3 stainless phillips screws with antiseize. Not as fast as the dzus but with my little screw gun it come apart pretty quick.

It's lookin good already.

Have you seen the dzus fasteners the drag cars use? 1/4 turn and they are loose for quick panel removal, some of them are self retaining too so you can't loose the fastener.

Dzuz fasteners are pretty normal in the off-road racing world as well.

It's more expensive but get the ones that are self retained with the spring. Sucks loosing a fastener in the field and having no way to replace it.

The panels will be held on with 5/16 thread stainless button heads. For the body I just do not see the need. The zues fasteners stick out like a sore thumb in comparison.

I did get a hundred or so deuz fasteners as well but those will be used in more strategic places like the dash, access panels, console, interior ect.

The next few weeks will be crazy so not sure what will come of it.

oh.. and as for the willys..im supposed to take it to blazer bash..I have not touched it :( On top of that it is in a photo shoot Thursday morning for something or another. I don't have time to tear into the motor so its getting trailer and will just get unloaded with a rod knock:doah:

I've been pricing out and trying to pull the trigger on the 3.6 camaro motor with a cmb stand alone controller but the 6k price tag is just not appealing... infact it makes a 5.3 sound cheap..so thats the plan now:D

LS WILLYS..before blazer bash? who knows.

Couple shots. I definitely didn't want to be a perv so the phone stayed away while the girls were changing or getting ready with pasties on lol.

It was fun but not as much as most would think, between waiting for shots, girls being late, it being hot people not being able to find the place but I've always got a pretty good attitude so no big deal to me.

I definitely wish I had been able to communicate with the photographer before the shot, I would have had a way better location but thats the way it goes.

The lady loves the idea of shooting it offroad but they had no idea what type of jeep was showing up lol..they were happy. I was just happy to have a motivator to start working on it before blazer bash.

Interesting couple days with a fun week to come.

Been taking the Willy's out as a nice way to blow off steam, the new 6.5 t-case gears are awesome and I can tell the difference in high range with the case being an under drive.

Spent the morning getting parts ready to wire Bens truck tomorrow, got some bitchen goodies to wire it nice.

Then headed over to the race shop to get the 4511 car prepped, fixed up, new tires swapped on, new rigid headlights and wiring.

Headed to Memphis Tennesse with it to be on Ian's extreme4x4 and check out some cool new ESAB products on Wednesday

Ill check out Beale St and then im headed back west to Colorado for the Dirt Riot race in Grand Junction, no current plans to race this one as its prepped for the Ultra 4 race in Fallen, but Ill be co driving in another car..and wll who knows what Ill do with this one while im there but im sure ill find a way to have fun:whistle:

sadly with all this cool stuff going on I just ran out of time today, was invited to bring the Willys to firebird raceway to be part of a Guiness world record attempt for the worlds largest burnout.. got the Willys ready but logistics failed when my trailer is somewhere else, the race car is loaded and pain to strap up and my biddy got jammed up trying to get his trailer over here in time. :( An awesome opportunity missed, with the willys in low gear and the trans in a higher gear it would have been epic:pimp:

On the plus side other than a new traction bar, oil pan and front crank seal, a skid plate fabbed up, a better deigned stering resi mounted, a canvas top and the exhaust redone to clear the new transfer case mount..the willys is ready for moab.

Tomorrow hopefully bens truck work goes smooth and I can hit the road tomorrow night for memphis!

You ever feel like you are running a rat race :dunno:

Been so busy the last few weeks I cant even keep track, but basically.. went across the country with a buggy and esab welding to film for extreme 4x4.

Stopped and had a good time and bbq in Memphis, Nashville, kansas City denver and grand Junction.

Co drove in Grand Junction, so I had to haul ass from Nashville to get over to the track a day and a half later. Racing with my buddy son in his Utv, we got second.

Met some people and wheeled in grand junction in the loaner buggy:whistle:

Then spent the next day in Moab till Monday and left that next thursday morning for an Ultra 4 250 mile race in Fallen NV..where we ended up in first.

We actually ripped a whole hub, wheel, brakes and parts off and went 5 miles on it when at race mile 35 of 40 we pulled over to lend a hand to another competitor since we were looking at a very likely DNF with the upcoming whoops section.

Turns out to be Baily cole, son of Dave cole that put on KOH and all this racing. He was in a spec car and lost a belt, well earlier the kid lost his his hood in a roll over and didn't have a belt diagram as it was on the hood lol.

He didn't have the tool for the tensioner either, so after a little thinking I got my foot in there, pushed on the tensioner and figured out the belt routing.

We went to get moving and ended up breaking two more axles and almost rolling trying to get back on course. Baily was going to have a DNF until we stopped and he was happy to just get to finish so he offered to tow us in.

Being towed backwards sounded scary with the possibility of a class one of trophy truck hitting us at speed in the dust so I decided to have him lift us with his winch, limit the rear suspension and push us for 5 miles...:eek1: managed to get up to 34 miles an hour in the whoops:pimp:...scary as hell with a 5k car behind us and no room for an error but it worked.

His sportsmanship was bad ass and it made for both of us getting to finish with us later finding out we won our class.

Andrew in his ifs 4400, got 9th after flats set him back, he used his spare and lost a tire just after..turns out after 10 miles on a rim and loosing all brakes another broken car offered his spare that fit and he was able to get a top ten. Could have been a 3rd place, but that's racing.

We get back and I went full bore with Ben on his truck and we ended up making it to Moab after all.

Tons of happy stories in between, but its been a fun 3 weeks:thumb:

Now Im back...I put the next two weeks aside to be in the shop, going to try to get the jimmys buggy done..so back in crazy fun mode.

I remember when the most hardcore thing you did was graft Tacoma tailights onto a '75 Blazer... :pimp:
