The Willomet Charger

A desecration to Mopar nuts everywhere, this is my protouring, LS-powered, 1970 Dodge Charger; built at my shop, Willomet Motor & Fabrication.
had to look up that word to see what it was
It’s the preferred method for welding thin material, but requires a super tight fit. It’s pretty much the only way to weld a panel without having to planish from the back side. It’s the go to for sanitary stainless, and thus is common for exhaust fab, too.

hope David doesn't decide to cover it all with Dollar store "Rubberized Undercoating"
…several layers.

Now, I’ve got to wrap my brain around these inner wheelhouses flanged to the frame.

Quick and simple rocker cap. The wheelhouses just need a flush mounting surface.

And setting up for a little nip and tuck to make the wheel houses mate without a gap.

Unfortunately, I injured my dominant eye last week, and I didn’t get nearly as much time in the shop over Thanksgiving as I would have liked. Yesterday was the first day I could see clearly enough to scribe and cut a line

Back at it, and without the cycloptic effect.

Sorry to hear about the injured eye; those really suck. Hopefully it mends back with no issues.

Be thankful for the eye recovery!
Very much so. Too easy to take them for granted.

It would be terrible to miss deer season!
A real loss. We eat 300 lbs of venison a year, and give away about 50-75 more. I have three trips planned for next month.

Glad you're on the mend. I did basically the same thing recently.
It super sucks. What was your recovery like?

Hopefully it mends back with no issues.
Doc says the remaining cloudiness should resolve with time. It really only impacts distance beyond 50 yards or so.

Hopefully the eye heals and you still have the eye for the craftsmanship you have been putting out.
I’ll keep hacking, regardless.

When it comes to second gen Chargers I guess you are familiar with this guy.
Chris is a friend. We met a year or two ago around the SEMA timeframe. Nice fella’. I bend his ear on the regular to bounce ideas.

Thank you, gents, for the kind words. They are deeply appreciated.

Stretching the front part of the wheelhouse to match up to the frame. It took two slices, some massaging with some soft faced mallets, a little reforming of this edge radius, and that's about it.

The MIG still works. That outer seam left a small gap, which is best filled by the glue gun. The other seam is tight to the unibody, and got the OCD treatment.

All these are ground and basically blended. Just a bit of bump work left to make it pretty.
