The Willomet Charger

A desecration to Mopar nuts everywhere, this is my protouring, LS-powered, 1970 Dodge Charger; built at my shop, Willomet Motor & Fabrication.
I was explaining a Watts link to a guy at a car show this weekend. His panhard bar was at enough of an angle, that when he laid frame, the left dually hit the fender. I deducted for that in judging.
I have a hard time explaining to people as well, and usually just call it a "split panhard bar." Occasionally that will click, but few folks really get it until they see it.

Separately, putting together this rear torque arm and watts link should drive most people to adapt an IRS cradle.

Did you know PT cruisers have a watts link ? I didn't, but will be going over my brothers hooptie's suspension in the near future.

Lots of great work there, I love checking out the pieces you build and neat toys used to help do so

Look at millerbuilt full floater kit. C6 rear brakes with skf bearings. Worked great on my custom 9" for my 63 nova

For your viewing enjoyment.

Unfortunately won’t fit what I’m doing. The Chassisworks unit bearing is a fair bit larger than a C7. It’s closer to a half ton truck. But, the idea of a custom backing plate to house the corvette stuff has me thinking.

Frame horns. I drew all this in bend tech and had it lasered and bent at Sendcutsend. I started working with them, and will have a discount for for any of y’all that might need what they do.

Fun little welding project.

Welded and ready for cover passes in the morning.

Portrait mode on the iPhone is fun. I felt like overlays were necessary since this section of the frame will have a tube landing and be in varying levels of tension from the suspension.

talk to us about that intake
I'm borrowing a friend's MSD intake. It's a modular design, and the internal runners have three lengths. This has the longest set installed. Overall, it's a good size to verify the cowl will clear the engine, and I can fit a hand back there for miscellaneous service.

Burned and fit. Now to make them parallel, tied together, and start thinking about how to get the front suspension mounts figured out. That's a whole other problem.

Until then, I love welding 4130 and the rear axle mounting needs attention.

SendCutSend now has a 15% discount code, delivered by email:

Just so y'all know, this isn't an affiliate link, so you're not putting any of your money in my pocket when you use it. The codes changes from time to time, hence the email link, and it's just used to see who's supporting my Willomet brand. I figure 15% is worth sharing if this is a service you might use.

Both the multicam and SnapBack hat models you have on your store right now fit my over sized noggin well.

Figuring out how to get these horns all flat and parallel and plumb.

Took a few measurements on the car to translate to the table, and an old XV Motorsports Mopar crossmember. I’ve had this thing for years, and finally found a chance to use it.

The front crossmember will be the same height off the ground as the engine crossmember, and tarted up a bit. The whole front end is a bit tank-ish, and built to take a lickin’ from steep driveways or bar ditches.

Also, made some little gussets for the anti roll bar crossmember.

I drained half a 125 tank of argon on these. As usual, two passes for anything that’s visible.

Base, 95A.

Cleaned up and prepped. It kind of looked nice here too.

Cover, pulse 100A.

Tacked and ready to fit on the car.
