Theft Deterrents

yeah, in my camaro, i had an ashtray in the front of the center consol, i hid the kill switch under the ashtray, so youd have to remove it and reach your fingers in and back to reach the button.

ive got the factory kill switch on the M1009, but might install another one somewhere.
 
i've got a python alarm with motion sensor in the cab, impact sensor, and an automatic ignition kill. so as soon as you trip the alarm it wont start till you reset it with the remote!!! ....oh yeah and its got all those bells and whistles to wake up the neighbors :)

Man, impact sensor? You mean like someone sits in your seat and it goes off? Motion sensor in the cab? Sounds like a sweet setup.
Only other thing you could do is hire someone to sit in it for you while you're out...LOL

no no the impact sensor is if someone hits it anywhere like the window or door...really anywhere on the vehicle if its bumped it will chirp a warning, but if you hit it hard enough it will sound the alarm! The motion sensor works in a slimier way, I've got mine mounted under the center console so if i have my top off or the windows down and someone hops in it will go off.


but whats really cool about it is there are better remotes i can buy for it that will vibrate and ring (kind of like a cell phone) when my alarm is set off.

How much did your alarm system set you back?
 
The two fork steering wheel lock makes things a little more difficult. The thief will have to cut the wheel on both sides of the steering wheel spokes.

It definitely serves as a visual deterrent for the casual thief. The kill switch is a good backup for the dedicated thief.

I have both on mine.
 
yup the killswitch is the best. we had a customer leave his 04 dodge pickup in our yard for about 40 minutes. he went to do a small roof repair with his boss. the truck was stolen three times before{twice at his house and once at the theater}.just for those 20in rims.mind you it was summer,busy in the yard with other customers and it was parked inline with our office doors.when they came back the sheetmetal was bent by the door latch and the ignition was pulled. but this time he had a kill switch so they didn't get it.:laugh: and a friend of mine lived in detroit. on his prized 86 grand prix,they made the rear window defogger swtch the kill switch.
 
Up where my brother lives in Alturas CA. by the oregon, nevada, idaho borders, people leave their vehicles running in the parking lot while they shop during the winter. You will sometimes see ten cars running in the lot with nobody around. People also leave the keys in the ignition in their driveway. Kinda the opposite of theft deterrent. Believe it or not, they dont have any vehicle thefts either. I personally run a battery kill switch but mostly to keep my battery from draining when its parked for extended periods. Just my 2 cents.
 
If you had a twin sticked 205, couldn't you leave the front axle in low range, and the rear in high? I would think that would make some serious noise goin down the road.
 
I have yet to rig on up to my K5 yet, but on my old VW's I used a Hella battery disconnect switch. You can run a hot wire for the clock and radio, but the truck won't start or run.

The other option that works good is the aforementioned fuel cut off or pulling the coil wire. I used to take that too.
 
if you got tbi, pull the ecm fuse, and keep a blown fuse handy to put in it's place, so someone doesn't see the empty spot.

Has Sandy gotten that bad?? Even with the softop on mine I've never had a problem although I did look into an alarm. Insuring it was cheaper than paying for one. I only checked Innovative car audio since they're next to my local liquor store :bow: and to have one installed with all your goodies it was close to a grand:eek1:

yawsa!!! a grand is way overboard.... i'll admit they do awesome work and sell great products, but they are for sure overpriced. I got mine installed at Ultimate Electronics (back when they still existed) And sandy hasn't gotten that bad, but i do drive my blaze allover the valley, every day (including West Valley). So more or less I don't like taking any chances.
