I wonder how much it would cost to import one...

It looks like a Hydraulic tank . and the extra P/S pump makes me think he has a snow plow for it look at the receivers under the bumper

Yep. We have a member on here from NZ with a few. Most were either imported from Australia, sold new through GM Holden in the 70's, or imported from Canada in the 80's. The 80's are all mostly diesel.

When I was in Christchurch in 2001 I saw a 89-91 diesel K5 that was MINT. Gave me wood...oh, and RHD.

What are you looking in NZ for?

Came up in google search, I just think its cool to see clean diesels with low mileage. I know importing would be outrageous from NZ compared to JP.

that just looks really REALLY wrong w/ the steering wheel on the right:p:

It really does look wierd seeing that chevy dash all backwards. I'm sure it would only take a few seconds to get used to driving it though.

I did dig seeing a lot of the old American stuff over there. However as that picture shows they did the easy conversion and just moved everything over to the right side of the vehicle. Little weird sitting on that side but it was just weird sitting on that side.

if i could get those parts i would convert my jimmy to rh drive in a heartbeat.that would be sweet to see the looks you would get from it.be even more funny if u got pulled over and the cop went to the wrong side lol

I will say the rigs in NZ aren't super clean either. They get rust just like a lot of the States do. They have a definite winter season.

wierd how some stuff is flip flopped but other stuff isn't. the auto shifter is still a right hand deal. and they didn't invert the dash, the radio is still on the right...

is the H pattern in the manual flip flopped too? L 1st closed to the driver and R farthest. or would it be like shifting from the passenger seat :doah:

Nothing is flipped mechanically, just basically enough was done so the vehicle was operated from the right side. A lot of folks told me they find the auto trans gear selector being on the right side of the column weird.

Even with the Japanese vehicles most have "our" shift pattern as it's the world standard, not just ours. I know my ex's Subaru had the same shift pattern as ours here in the States did.

that would just be wierd then. if i had to shift with my left hand, i'd want the H pattern reversed... and if they put the radio on the left too, i'd be all messed up. LOL!

Here's a pic of my right hand drive interior. Its an auto, so I'm not sure about how shifting would be, but I don't think it would be too hard. Very much the same as a 4Runner as far as the console, radio location, etc. maybe a few small differences, definitely original though, no conversion here. Just thought I'd share :D

It's not as hard as you would think. Only trouble I REALLY had was remembering "RIGHT SIDE, RIGHT SIDE!"

I hate you. I'd love a diesel Hilux Surf but not happening here.

Cool rigs.
How is it shifting this thing? If it was converted, did you have to do anything to the shifter? Just curious more than anything. Did you buy it like that or do the conversion yourself?

It sucks that there is a 25 year wait to import anything in the states. I`ve heard that it is possible to import stuff, just a pain in the a$$. Otherwise I`d trade you my Hilux for your blue K5, AJ :D

Didn`t mean to rub it in too much :o or maybe I did... :p::haha:

It is possible but it's confusing and illogical, like most of our laws governing anything cool.
