Been on the truck less than a year, they're falling off and the finish is looking funny. These are from LMC, there has to be a better option. Does anyone have experience with another brand?

Dangit. I needed a couple of those too.

Sadly, more and more of the aftermarket stuff is crappy IMO. I've tried other places than LMC, but part of me thinks they all use the same supplier.

We need someone to CNC a set out of a chunk of aluminum.
I keep braking mine also.

If thats a photo of the trim piece that covers the door pull strap screws,I agree, the originals suck, and the aftermarket ones are even worse...

The ones on both my trucks fly off if you slam the door,I lost a few,got lucky, found some on a junkyard donor, tried using J-B weld putty to hold them on,and the plastic tits busted off 3 of them next time I whacked my arm against it..I think I have one of 4 still intact--in the glove box...

But,with all the other troubles the trucks have, the trim pieces are the least of my worries..:surepal:..lately I cant keep air in my tires, the pickup tried burning itself to the ground last week, and I'm beginning to think they are both cursed..

After breaking one of the straps and 2 or 3 of the little covers, I ended up ditching the whole setup. For some reason I've put a lot of oak in my truck, so this worked out well. There are these replacement straps that have been available for a lot of years - they used to be on the shelves on Pep Boys and the like. Available in different colors and 2 different lengths. You want the longer one:

They still have plastic ends, but they are held on by screws instead of clips. The picture above doesn't show the snap in plastic covers that hide the screws. I have had these for many years and haven't broken anything. The center of the strap is metal, as well. Edit: found a picture of it. Don't know if these end caps would cover the holes from a stock strap.

just ordered the ones from ebay! Theyre american made and they should last forever.

My buddy is going to make me a nice set of aluminum door panel inserts next week to replace the cheesy factory plastic crap and while he's at it i'm going to have him also make a set of strap covers in aluminum as well. I may even have him make a nice pair of aluminum pull handles to replace the factory straps.

The covers from eBay showed up today, two days ahead of schedule. The machine work is beautiful, they look great. The only problem is that the screws provided are about a half an inch too short to even reach the nutserts inside the door. So I can't install them yet.

I like these. For some reason they look better in your pics then on ebay:dunno:. Personally I think the factory clip on style in solid aluminum would be rather difficult to remove since they wouldn't break off like the factory ones:whistle:

Those do look nice. I haven't even looked yet but does anyone sell new pull straps, LMC maybe?

Like Muddy said, the screws weren't long enough. Had to go to the hardware store and get some new ones. Couldn't find any Allen heads so I had to go with regular Phillips. They ARE tougher than the plastic POS's, but they don't look very good on the door trim pieces designed for the plastic escutcheons, guess I'm gonna have to invest in the billet aluminum replacements.

I got the longer screws today and installed the new covers. They looks awesome! I don't mind the small holes left over from the plastic junk. The new screws were 1" long and honestly I could have used another 1/4", these barely reached but tightened down fine. I'd highly recommend these to anyone just specify that you're gonna need longer screws.
