Think I can man handle a np208 w/o a jack?

Seal on the adaptor, and input seal are the only two that would be on the front of the tcase.




I right stuff the adaptors and have never had a single one leak.

No, on a 4wd transmission there is no transmission output seal. Just transfercase input seal. If its leaking from where the tcase/adapter/transmission meet, its just a gasket or rtv. I actually prefer an anerobic sealant instead of rtv.

That brings back memories, been a while. I do remember using an anerobic sealant between the two.

Now another question. If I stick my finger in the fill hole, and I'm assuming it's the chain I'm feeling, how much slack is too much

If you stick your finger in the hole, it is best for it to feel tight. Unused even...if you're in to that.

I did it with a 205 In my younger days. Don't know how I ever lived and didn't crush myself. Bench pressed it up and got it on adapter and help it up to get a bolt in with one hand. Only dropped it once. Lol. Luckily my other hand was fast and coughs it before it ashes my chest. Stupid thing kids
Do. Lol. 208 would be much easier. About half the weight.

It's an NP208, it is way easier to do it by hand then mess with anything else. You don't have to worry about it being hard to start the bolts, because once you get it stabbed on the output shaft of the transmission, you can hold it in place with one hand, and use the other to start the bolts.

Also, you don't need to support the transmission, that is what the cross member and tranny mount will be doing.......

Ditto......like I posted earlier why do other people keep saying you have to support the trans with a jack?
