Well I haven't been on here in a while as I've gotten really into ATVs in the past 9 months or so. In that time I really haven't worked on my Blazer any and I'm tired of seeing it not being used like it should. It's a great truck and I've put alot of work into, but sadly I don't see myself finishing it as I've really gotten into ATVs now. It's got stock 350 with throttle body spacer, PRW roller rockers, hedman headers, hot chip. i converted it to a manual. it's got the venerable sm465 4 spd with a np205 t-case behind it I twin sticked. I converted it exactly about a year ago so the tranny and t-case were rebuilt about a year ago. got rid of the u-joint style output yoke of the t-case and went with a flange setup from HAD and the rear driveshaft is a HAD CV rear shaft. It's got a 14bff rear I went ahead and rebuilt about 3 months ago when i put the detroit locker in. converted the rear to disc brakes. the front is a Dana 44 that I have a lock rite locker for along with Yukon Chromoloy shafts and u-joints. Converted it to crossover steering. dual steering stabilizers. 38x15.50x15 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on 15x12 Black Rock Crawler rims. It has Bilstein 515 14" travel remote reservoir shocks all the way around. Dual Flowmaster super 40 exhaust. Rock sliders. I was building to to be my trail/mud truck but truthfully I have just lost interest. It's a great running truck. I daily drive it just about everyday. I don't have a front driveshaft, never put the lock-rite or yukon shafts in the front end. Doesn't have an emergency brake. It's got 4.10 gears. 52s up front with DIY4X kit, shackle flip out back with 56s, new bushings, zero rate and 7.25 shackles all the way around. ORD motor mounts, new polyurethane crossmember mount. The air compressor went out a couple years or so ago and I have just never replaced it. I put the reverse lights on a switch when I did changed it over to a manual. The interiors in fair shape (of course the dash in cracked. The carpet is a little worn and dirty.

Anyway, how much do you guys think I could get for it in it's present condition? I know I put alot of money into it, but I also know it's not in a completed state and that I would never get that money back out of it regardless

These are the only pics I got right now. Was gonna clean it up at work yesterday but it's been so f'in cold

wow, that sux, and we gunna be hearin ya in 6 months sayin how much you regrettin it...
youl git $4,500

that' pretty much bout what I was thinking. Figured I might just ask $5K and see where I go from there. Yeah I hate to leave y'all. CK5 has easily been the best website I've ever been associated with. Sadly I might going to a Cummins haul my toys now

I really don't see why you would get rid of it...I say keep it, very inexpensive to maintain and enjoy, while leaving the possibility of returning to playing with it in the future...just my 2cents. I regret getting rid of my 63' Willy's, 81' YZ 250 & 65' F150. Much more cost effective to keep than replace IMO.

If its paid for, your able to eat, and pay the bills. KEEP IT!!!

You will regret selling it later on. Trust me, I regret selling my '91 K5 Blazer that was in great shape. I have tried finding another one like it but they are either $10K or junk. I also regret selling my '76 Jimmy, it was my first truck and was sweet to. Sold it to get a econo car since I was dating my current wife, luckily she is still putting up with me 15 years later:) But I still miss the '76 Jimmy.

yeah I've thought about it and I wouldn't mind keeping it but I just see it sitting and rotting and I don't want that to happend

Totally understand not wanting to sit and rot...so drive it to work one day a week to keep it lubed and working...thus leaving you the opportunity to wheel in the future. Take it camping, exploring, hunting, mall crawling, etc.

yeah. IDK what I'm gonna do. I really want my buddy's '90 1 ton cummings to have as a tow rig for hunting and ATV riding but I don't have the cash straight out. I guess I can talk to my bank about a line of credit I suppose to pick up his Dodge

dude you dont need a 1ton or diesel to pull around a few atv's..
i think you gotta think this one out bro

make yer cheby a 1ton by throwin a 60 in the front, and jus regear dewder..

take a loan out for another truck!?!? yo im confused:doah:

well the 5.7TBI is getting tired. New 383 or 406 (which I was considering) $3k-$5k depending. If I regear I lose all highway gear as it's turning 2300ish going 65 now not too mention cost and more work for me to put those gears in. Dana 60... yeah I'm looking at a cool grand there. When I think about all that, $3200 for a Dodge one ton, Cummins, D60/D70, in good shape that I can pull anything with sounds like a better deal. The Cummins would be better though for toting my tractor to our hunting land (the K5 DOES NOT like that, lol). ATVs I realized are a whole lot cheaper and easier to work on (and if I mess it up I don't have to worry about laying under it all night so I can get to work the next morning). I really do love my Blazer and I've always been a chevy man but I need something else. I'm torn!!

sounds like ya need some (wheelin buddies) out there ta keep yer interest. cuz then they would be kickin yer ass instead of us tryin through the internet

Hopefully you don't spend a night under it waiting for someone to find you:doah:

Don't take out a loan for a $3k truck. Just dont' do it. If it really is a good buddy, work out a payment system, although i'd only do that for a really good friend. Sell some other junk, do some side jobs, whatever if you HAVE to have that truck.

Or borrow money from someone if he HAS to have cash right away. But really, if you can't afford to pay $3k cash for a new "toy", as functional as it might be, you really can't afford to play. Less than $3k cash cushion with old trucks or atvs or any "toys" in general is pretty risky in my book.

My $2200 burb was a great deal with a bulletproof trans......until i had to rebuild it to the tune of $2600. I lucked out and was working when that happened, but if i had still been in college like i was when i bought it, it would have sat for MONTHS :(

How the heck did you spend $2200 on a trans:confused::eek1:. I hope he used vasoline, lol. Well considering I've only paid $8K for both my ATVs and I only have $450 in a jet ski (that runs great) I think a $3k cushion is overkill. Maybe not for a truck but truthfully I don't know anybody I ride with that has a $3k cushion for toys. Maybe it's just the people I hang out with :haha:. Anyway I have a couple grand to play with but I just don't like owing anybody money. I don't have a payment on anything. 2 trucks, 2 atvs, jet ski, tractor. When you're single and work 3 jobs you can make up some cash. Anyway I could prob come up with the cash within a few weeks or so but I just don't see me messing with my K5 between the other toys I have and I don't wanna see it rot when it could go to a good home to be used like I had planned. It's not that I HAVE to unload my K5 right now but I wouldn't mind selling it and getting that Cummins since he NEEDS to unload it.

My vote is keep it. Ive been through times where I could care less about my truck and I always end up getting back into it again. I would rather let my truck sit than sell it.

I think you would regret selling your K5! You have done some great work on your's! Get the cummins for a steal. keep the K5. I see a project K5/cummins?:D

Lol, you sound like my good buddy nick. he's a heavy equipment mechanic for Komatsu (which have cummins motors) and he has a dream of a 12V in my Blazer with a 5in pipe coming out blowing black smoke. I'll see. you guys are making me think about it. I see what I can work out with my buddy and his Dodge. I just HATE seeing vehicles sit and rot

I totally agree with the "pay cash for toys" mentality, and have actually been looking at picking up a sub $500 jet ski too :haha:

The truck was like $2200, the trans was even more at $2600.....but it was a full rebuild on a 4l80e with upgrades, plus R&R of Xfercase to change seals and seal the 2 case half's. That trans is a LOT more expensive to rebuild than a 700r4 or th400 for sure.

If you can come up with cash fast, buy the cummits wiht what you have cash, and setup a strict payment plan to pay your buddy the rest cash in the next month or 2. He'll love getting his full asking price, and most in cash initially should be enough to keep him happy if you must have that truck.

Turning your K5 with all the years of work into it into quick cash just sounds like a bad idea. It will cost you way more to get back into it later if you want......just hang onto it.
