Think it's time to sell my K5...

I totally agree with the "pay cash for toys" mentality, and have actually been looking at picking up a sub $500 jet ski too :haha:

The truck was like $2200, the trans was even more at $2600.....but it was a full rebuild on a 4l80e with upgrades, plus R&R of Xfercase to change seals and seal the 2 case half's. That trans is a LOT more expensive to rebuild than a 700r4 or th400 for sure.

If you can come up with cash fast, buy the cummits wiht what you have cash, and setup a strict payment plan to pay your buddy the rest cash in the next month or 2. He'll love getting his full asking price, and most in cash initially should be enough to keep him happy if you must have that truck.

Turning your K5 with all the years of work into it into quick cash just sounds like a bad idea. It will cost you way more to get back into it later if you want......just hang onto it.

had to show you what a $450 jet ski looks like :D

can you guess which side was dirty:wink1:?

LOL. Thats pretty.

I was thinking an early to mid 90's standup 650 or 750.

No sitdowns for me.

I had mine forsale, I had no time and money to fix it 6 months ago with work and some unexpected expenses. Mine is similar to yours, in socal, no takers. I'm kinda glad, now I thnk about it, I would regret letting go of it. You sink money in these things that you never get back. The way I see it, not many cars are an investment. You buy a new fully loaded silverado for $40K, and in 5 years its worth less then $20K. Imagine the K5 you could have with that gap! Sure you may dump $5K into it to make it bullet proof, then you will know it like the back of your hand, and it will be built, reliable and bullet proof.

On a side note, for an age old question. I'm on 36" TSL's right now, I was wondering how your D44 has been. Contemplating shafts, a locker and move up to 38" or so, or getting a D60. Not sure.

truthfully my d44 has never been engaged. right when I was about to finish it I got big in mudding ATVs and she fell to the way side. My plan was to just beat the $hiznit out of it til it broke so I would know how far it would go and if that wasn't satisfactory then I would look for a D60. Throttle control has alot to do with and down here in South GA we have more mud than rocks so the serious strain of constant rock crawling was something I really wasn't going to have to worry about like you guys in SoCal

Now that we have shown you the light! Enough of this selling Your Killer k5 sillyness:crazy::confused:! Get you that cummins!

Well, I can't say I'm talked out of it yet. Of course everybody that knows how much I've worked on my K5 thinks I'm a tard for wanting to sell it. I'll see how it plays out. I really just hate seeing something sit, rot and not be used though

Oh Alright tell you what just give me a call whenever she sits to long and i will fly out and take her out for ya? Sounds good to me! :haha::haha:

seriously good luck with whatever direction you go!

Mike

p.s. I will fly out to take her out for ya though!:D

How about just getting a set of load range 'E' 35's for towing duty? It would be like having a slightly steeper ratio too. Then you could use it and it won't sit and rot ;)

the front is a Dana 44 that I have a lock rite locker for along with Yukon Chromoloy shafts and u-joints.

Well if it will make you feel any better PM me about the above and maybe you can find another Jet ski? That will take your mind off of selling it with another new toy to clean.
