I know. Touchy subject.. :doah:

But I know others on CK5 have gone this way as well.

Just getting sick of driving the ol' Saturn sedan.

Its going to be used mostly for highway. Just looking for reviews, tire/wheel combo's, should I go manual or auto? ETC

I've got it narrowed down to two models, a black one with auto tranny and all the bells and whistles, brown leather interior, remote start, etc.

The manual is a white one, also brown leather interior, just doesn't have Nav.

I would consider lifting it a little, but that won't be for a while. $$

I'm going to put my winter tires on it from the K5. Just need to make sure I can get some 15" rims on it.

Don't worry I'm keeping the K5 too..

Reusing tires?

Doubt you can clear 15's, but maybe. That part seems like a backwards step.

Besides that, i'd say go manual. Who uses Nav nowadays anyways? It will be outdated in a week, and your phone will do better.

No other comments though.

Here's the goods:

I would have agreed with you on that but then I found this:

go White and Manual, for sure. didn't think about teh color in first post.

White is better, AND you get the manual!

Black on a car is a pain, black on a new truck would be worse.

Your k5 is black, but i doubt it gets washed/waxed often.

I HATED having to wash my black BMW. I practically had to wash it in the dark to keep it from spotting, and that was mostly cause then i couldnt' see the spots.

Yes, looks badass when clean....but that never really happens.

Not worth the upkeep.

The current car purchase i'm working on is white again. Will be rad to have 2 white vehicles back in the stable.

Was considering an ecoboost ford f-150 too for the fuel economy but the JK does a little better. Plus I have access to trucks if need be. Just want something a little more fun to drive on the highway plus the winters are brutal here so a car is out.

If you don't need a truck.......Subaru?

The new XV Crosstrek's are pretty sweet, good ground clearance too.

15's fit but the backspacing has to be under a certain amount to fit.

I'd say get the auto. I hear those 6 speed manuals aren't holding up well. Meanwhile the new 5 speed autos get rave reviews and the same gas mileage.

the auto is bomb proof with that engine in front of it.

the manual is ok, the biggest complaint I see is noise. the 3.6 doesn't have the torque to break them like the 4.0 did.
they have had problems with them popping out of gear. what gears it pops out of depends on the year it was built. all that seems to be fixed since 2011

either one is a good pick.

Friends of mine have one...white 6 speed standard.

I drove it and liked it, I wouldn't mind having one.

If you are considering Saharas, why not just get a Rubicon?

If you buy one of these 2, my vote is white manual. I agree with the comment about black vehicles looking good only when spotless (never) and I've had 3. Also, manuals FTW! Makes me feel like I'm actually driving, not just commuting.

I have a 2011 JK Unlimited Rubicon with the old engine but new interior. I have a small lift and 35x15s. The wheels have small backspacing and stick out a little, but not too bad. I use it for commuting (in town) and light off-roading to shooting spots and stuff. It's the only new-ish vehicle I'd want, but it's way too refined for a Jeep (power everything, heated mirrors, etc.). Power is not there to maintain highway speeds uphill (80 mph). Visibility out the back is almost non-existent with the spare in place.

It's sort of a compromise between practical and cool off-road. I would not recommend it to someone who doesn't want a Jeep, because you could do better for commuting and getting to the ski slope (or whatever) in something else. For me personally though, there was really no other option for something new and reliable that could carry the family.

Remember the new engine has a lot more power.

It's a 11 rubicon, I'm trying to put jeep down but it is seriously horrible. She had a 08 we traded in on this one....... It was about the same. But I did hear the new motor rocks.
