Thinking about making a FAQ compendium.

Technical as in content-related? or what?

I've done my fair share of coding (C, C++, Java, Perl, Ruby, Python, PHP), so I think I've got a handle on the 'computer' technical aspect of everything. It's just assembling a test set of information that I need to work on, I think for simplicity's sake I'll start off with the 52" spring info (since it's already been collected in a way), and a Transmission/Transfer-Case reference.

whatever really. I do the network consultant thing, so that kinda technical. As for truck Technical, i'm a little green to be of much service.

Mostly just tryin to be helpful ... its how i am *shrug*

Mmm network consulting.

In my one dorm room, I've got a wifi network, LAN, packet radio nodes, and three computers. My main computer controls all the nets, and provides SMB and NFS for the other two computers. One of these days I'll find a job where I can work on trucks, fix radios, and play with computers. Have yet to find all that in one place though :(

Sir if you find that job, PLEASE let me know so I can be an assistant or something.

sadly, i'm not lucky enough for that to exist.

what *nix flavor? and why SMB over ftp. ftp on a local network will get you closer to peaking your pipes than ****ty windows shares to a samba server. unless the whole network is linux ... then well ... good stuff.

Definitely have a section for exhaust. Seems like someone always wants to know about headers, single vs. dual, where to run the pipes, what mufflers to run, etc..

Heh, you geeks. :haha:

I run the network at a hosting and consulting firm, and we specialize in Linux and the BSDs. We're also advocates of Open Source and actually never do any new Windows installations or application development.

FTP is fast, but not always what you want. You can "mount" samba filesystems and use them more efficiently than an FTP connections, depending on the application. I like OpenAFS and NFS on simpler installations. When you add samba to that, you've got yourself a nice compatible system.

I'm learning the auto since it's new to me, but a wiki sounds like a great idea to make some of this info cross-referenceable, condensed, and scalable.

:saweet:

SMB server is on the linux box, and windows gets to use it as a network drive.

My laptop, however, runs linux and utilized NFS. The main linux computer stores map and terrain databases that the laptop accesses for various programs.

As far as linux flavors, I jump around every now and then trying out new things. I ran ArchLinux for the longest time, and am currently using Gentoo.

Yeah I totally know what you guys mean. I run a bilateral two phase core reduction with a dual capacitor mainstream feeding through healthy 46 gigawatt conduits. I find the phase variance destabilises the motherboard though. Not too much of a problem though if you recalibrate the wave generators to create a non-dispersing wave through the density refractor. I love talking out my a$$ :D

I've noticed questions about wheel backspacing. Maybe that could be something that goes in there.

This is a great idea yall have and is something that is needed I think.

Oh and what about motor specs? By this I mean, what year motors are rollor blocks ect. Im sure yall can expand on this.

Maybe it could use a good gear ration calculator too.
How about a metric tire size converter.
Maybe something about types of fittings and stuff like that

Im just throwin ideas out there.

Maybe even a quick section directed at the use of the CK5 site. Like "How do I post pictures" or other questions people ask.

Once the wiki is up in beta, let me know, I would love to go on and add some content.

Hail to the geeks! I bet my network beats your network! We can Quake to determine the victor!?!

46 gigawatts???!!! Why not use waveguides and star couplers? ;)

Here's one I see at least every week.
"My fuel gauge is broken"
Diagnoses, possible problems, and repair would be most excellent.
