Thinking of doing a home made SYE for a np241

I've bought two different wrong version np241, one 32-splined but with an electric VSS, and one 27-splined with a mech. VSS.
So I'm going to swap parts between them to get one 32-splined with a mech VSS...

For drive shaft, I've realized that the front shaft from an IFS-truck might work (as long as it doesn't have an auto-trac TC).
They have single 1350 joints in both ends, and slip in between...
But since it'll be longer, I'm not really sure it'll be strong enough...

But it don't have much time for working on it now, so it'll probably take some time before I'll finish it

I am in the same boat, I can't see dropping over $400 on a SYE conversion when you can get them for a np231 for nearly half that. Seems like us poor 'ol boys with 241's are getting it with no lube. Heck I would have a grand in my drive shaft with the price of the sye. I am thinking about just taking a few inches out of my stock tail housing and tig welding it back together and cutting the same amount off of the shaft and using a bolt on yoke. Seems if you shorten the shaft that will take some strain off the rear bearing. My problem is I have about a 450hp escalade motor in my K5 and I am afraid I am going to tear some crap up if I don't do something about getting rid of my stock drive shaft.
