i recently picked up a ORD flip kit, how can you tell if it's a 4" or 2.5" kit?

I have read that you can swap them side for side and run 56" springs. i am thinking of going this route, and was wondering if the truck would keep it's payload capacity? (it hauls a lot of firewood).

approx. how much lift would you get using the ORD flip kit, and 56" springs? i am trying to keep it low, around 3" of lift.

truck is an 82 k-10 short bed rockin the 10 bolts till they blow!

You can easily identify between the 4" and 2.5" flips, the shackle hangers on one set are simply longer than the other set. 4" flip stock 56"s=4" lift, 2.5" flip with stock 56"s=2.5" of lift, that is assuming your using the stock shackle and around 6 leafs in the pack. From what I've found out, most 56" springs are rated 3/4 ton.

Here's the link to a thread I posted a while back, has most of what your looking for in detail:waytogo:

thanks for the link. it answered most of my questions. i guess the one i have is the 4" flip kit, but thats a little taller than i was planning on going right now.

So the only question that was not answered was if the truck still maintains it's payload capacity with the shackle flip installed. this truck regularly get overloaded wiith firewood, and i'd hate to bend the flip brackets.

Measure from where the bottom of the frame would be to the shackle eye hole and I can tell you which flip you have.

Yes your truck still keeps it's payload capacity, you won't bend the brackets. Compare them to what was on the truck :waytogo:

True words! :waytogo: i am more worried about bending my frame:D

thanks for all the help!! i decided against the 4" lift, a little too tall. gonna get rid of it and get the 2.5 inch kit.

I highly doubt your going to twist your frame with those shackle brackets, unless you had a crane drop one of those K rails in the bed from 50' up...or drive your truck off a cliff, with all your firewood loaded up...IF they do bend up your chassis you have bigger problems to deal with;)

Yeah, the ORD flip kits are pretty stout, however if you think about it, that flip kit can only rotate upwards twisting the chassis...so it would have to twist 6x2x3/16" C channel:eek1:, that is not only attached to the rest of your suspension, has multiple X members, and is attached to your body with numerous body mounts. It would require a TREMENDOUS amount of force just to imply the slightest twist, other components would fail before your chassis does (leafs, shocks, axle shafts, axle housings, X members etc). As mentioned earlier, compare it to what was originally under there.

Maybe I'm taking this too seriously, but remember I'm reassuring you that you have absolutely nothing to worry about:grin:
