This 6.2 is running perfect read page 4

More troubles it is running ok when accelerating but misfires and smokes blue when coasting.
Idling is a little rough and smells unburnt fuel.
Everyone I talked to here says rebuild the ip for 1200 USD.
Now I have ran it with some twostroke oil and tried dieselinjection cleaner no result.
I think the timing is a little off maybe because I used some violence on the ip when it did not start.
Is there someone who can show me where the little mark on the ip is maybe a pic or blowup.
And how to get it right again if it's not in the right place.
I'll try to do a vid of the engine running rough.

That price for the IP is crazy high! Try Badger Diesel. They are located in southern Wisconsin. He will ship out rebuilt IPs, you send him the core and then he will reimburse you the core charge. I've heard of CUCV owners from all over the US getting pumps rebuilt from there

Agree, a rebuilt 6.2 IP shouldn't run more than $400 or so...

Rene

Maybe someone could pm me an e-mail adress to a place who can do this and send it to me (in Sweden:whistle:).
The thing about that price is that there is only a few people here in Sweden that rebuild those ips so they set the price at what they like :screwy:

Find the contact info on this site. The guys name is Tim...very good to work with.

I got my IP and 8 injectors rebuilt through him, cost me under $350 including shipping both ways.

Thanks Rene .
I'll try that in a week or two if it does not get any better with the cleaner stuff.

Could be a bad lift pump. When you accelerate the IP can draw enough fuel to run, then fall on its face at lower RPM because it can't compensate for the lift pump.

I would try all the easier stuff before a new IP.

Oh and I think those newer 6.2's have an electric lift pump that operates off an oil pressure switch and the switch can go bad...I don't know a lot about that though, might be something to look into.

Today I changed the timing from 0.5mm to the pass side to 5mm to the drivers side and now it runs almost as it should.
Idling doesn't smoke and doesn't smell unburnt fuel anymore.
Reving and accelerating is fine.
Coasting at almost top rpms misfires just a little.
So I think the ip is bad but probably gonna DD it until I can afford the ip rebuild.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Yesterday me and my wife were out driving with the K-20 several hours it ran ok all day.
Today when I started it and went to the garage I noticed it had changed some in the sounds from the engine.
Were the troubles in rpms were before I changed the timing it sounded like a newer diesel with highpressure stuff.
So after some thoughts I changed the timing back to were the marks go inline with eachother and now it is running perfect :D
The only problem is the no start when warm syndrome.
Yes I have some water to pour on the ip to start it when it happens.
I hope that will be better later to.

It will start when you cool the IP down, but it won't get any better. The head and rotor in IP is starting to go.
