I’ve been hearing a popping noise sometimes when I turn and I decided to get my son out and have him turn the wheel while I investigated. ...and this is what I found.
Im not as good as some of these guys but check your frame,I had a cracked FRAME on one of my old trucks and it was making a popping noise on turns......I’ve been hearing a popping noise sometimes when I turn and I decided to get my son out and have him turn the wheel while I investigated. ...and this is what I found.
I hope I can just do bushings. Im close to getting new springs for the lift but that’s still a little while out. I want it to drive safely and have a good ride so I may have to order the bushings I’ve been putting off.I've seen some OEM front springs that have the "eye" made on both leafs up front, have the inner "eye" crack at the rounded area and the bushing then gets to slop around too...two trucks I owned had them cracked and I didn't realize the spring eye had busted, until I took the bolt off (had to use a sawsall),and the piece dropped to the pavement!.
I thought I'd get away with just putting in new bushings..nope!..
I lucked out and found a pair of 3 leaf stock HD springs at a swap meet, someone was selling after they installed a lift kit on their K20...cost was $10,it was time to pack up and go home and the guy really didn't want to lug them around !..they looked like new still, had nice bushings ,he must have lifted his truck at low mileage..
That’s what I was just shopping for. I guess my lift will come sooner rather than later.Just suck it up sooner for the new springs...
The work involved it bushings make up for the struggle with buying new springs before you have the money...
I must be using their site wrong. The only way I can find the Tuff country springs on there is by doing it in a kit. I don’t want the whole kit, I’m going with ORD stuff on most of it.Look at sdtrucksprings.com they have good prices on tuff country springs.
Thanks! Damn! That’s $67 cheaper that ORD sells them for! After the $52 shipping, they are $324 for the front two.
Looks like the springs are worn as well as the bushings. They shouldn’t separate that much but I’d wait until you get the bushings out to be sure. I also had a spring break at the eye. Only thing holding it was the weight of the truck in the bolt.I hope I can just do bushings. Im close to getting new springs for the lift but that’s still a little while out. I want it to drive safely and have a good ride so I may have to order the bushings I’ve been putting off.
