this welder worth buying?

99 bucks for a 200 amp mig? i wouldnt think that it would be a top notch product, but it may be worth getting to practice, find out what their return policy is, you can always buy it, and if it doesnt weld worth a damn you can take it back

get a hobart or weldmark those 2 are the off brands of lincoln and miller. 100-200 cheeper than the name brand but still just as good. and once you get it you will use the heck out of it. and get gas for it also. welds much better than flux core.

hobart = miller
weldmark = lincoln

any one of those super cheepys like you posted i have seen suck.

I would have to agree, spend another couple hundred and get a Hobart 110v MIG welder, with gas. It should be a much better machine than the Harbor Freight/Kragen POS's, that you'll be able to keep and use for a long time. Plus, I've heard the duty cycle is super short on the cheapies, that helps them be so cheap.

BEWARE..

MIG 200 may just be a model #, Not the true total output amperage.
No specs listed for the input voltage (220 or 110v),or duty cycle in the link.

In my opinion, save your money for a 220volt, gas sheilded welder.
Much better to learn on a good wire feed.

Miller-Hobart-Lincon..........135amp to 175 amp.

Even if you ever decide that welding is not your gig, you will have a welder
with a very high resale value.

My 2 cents.........:weld:

.

haha even if welding is not my gig i still need it to put together my rig so its kind of essential, should i look into buying a used welder for my first or just get a brand new one, id really rather prefer to go the used/cheaper route but if its not worth it than i could save up a lil longer to get a new one but id rather spend more money on getting a better used one anyways.

Sure, go used if you can. Might be able to get a few extra accessories for less money that way. Worked for me anyway. Just don't do any impulse buys from a shady guy with a welder you don't know anything about. Do your research and look around for some deals. You can save quite a few bucks.
