those needing 16.5 tires

Just be on the lookout, I found mine in craigslist dallas $100 for a set of 6 with 90%

yeah thats the killer, even if you score a good deal on steal-bay, or CL, if you have to pay for shipping, it suddenly isnt such a good deal anymore.... although im really jealous of the 6 for 100 bucks deal. wish i could find that somewhere near by :(

those tires seem to be pretty good a buddy of mine was trying to sell me some. but for the cost of them and the price of having to buy new 16.5 rims it really becomes not so great of a deal anymore

You can shop around and find the wheels for less then $100 a piece. I know a few years ago I got mine for $61 a piece.:D

yeah, WHY are those deals never around the NY area??????

not two weeks ago i posted up a thread. i got my military H1 beadlocks from a guy off ebay, drove out to harrisonburg and met him at JMU, he was on his way up to PA to get a trailer and generator set. I bought my complete set of 4 beadlocks for $97 total. He's got near a hundred of em from what he says. If anyone is interested, send me a PM and ill send you his ebay link. meh, ill just post it here........ very laid back guy, retired and just buys and sells military surplus for a hobby. everything from beadlock rims to duce and a half trucks.

i highly reccomend this guy, was very easy to deal with.

the wheels were the easy part for me, the tires are gonna be the problem.

Those 8-stud wheels only work with Bias-ply tires, right? About $67 each is $268 for the set.

Isn't the weight rating pretty low on the 8-bolts, too and only 30psi max?

hadnt heard anything about any of those things...... thanks for the heads up. I was planning on running the military spec OZ tires on them, and didnt see a problem with that. And im sure my truck weighs less than a hummer, so i figured that wouldnt be a problem either... the 30psi limit is news to me though.... to the internet.

I know guys that run their 8 bolt rims well down into single digits. I've also seen them with radial tires on them. I would cut down the run flats or get some pvc ones.

found this..... the tire and wheel section covers the 12 bolt rims instead of the 8 bolts, but when it talks about the tire pressure monitoring system, the recomended pressure for on highway use is 40 psi, and the low pressure warning light kicks on at 30psi, cant imagine that the new rims would have come with a whole new TPMS. Im assuming that means the 8 bolt rims can handle the 40psi i would normally be running????

still looking at a weight load limit.... still cant imagine its lower than my truck will be when all is said and done.

i think the 30psi limit was being listed as the "high" side pressure, meaning no more than 30psi, which would kinda suck, that would definatly loose me some mpg. I like to run 40psi on the highway. Good to know some guys run radials, although i did find something online indicating they were only for bias ply, ill need to look into it more. and I will actually look at getting the PVC beadlocks, as i didnt get any with the rims. Ill need new studs, nuts, and o-rings too, but not anytime soon.

EDIT - thread started on SS, will post results of questions posted when i get them.

I've read a lot about other guys having to recenter the hummer rims, because they'll cause problems with the 7" of backspacing. Is this true? I found a set of 12 bolt h1's with the 37" radials for next to nothing and want to go pick them up. If anyone is running them please post some pics up

hoodride - youll just need to run spacers, or have them recentered. Or like i plan on doing, putting in the axles from a 1 ton dually, the dually axles are wide enough to offset the.... offset, from the H1 beadlocks.

spacers are not necessarily a bad thing, alot of guys run them, and from what ive seen, the difference between reliability and your tire rolling past you at highway speeds, is making sure to follow the manufacturers recomendations, primarily the torqing specs and procedures, especially going back after a certain number of miles and retorqing.

for me, seeing as i have to buy the axles anyway to upgrade from my 1/2 ton axles, id prefer to just get the dually (DRW) axles, and avoid the spacers as an additional cost.

I'm worried as to the added stress on my front D44 from running wheel spacers. I think i'll be pushing it as it is with the 37's. Darn, the added cost of pressed centers and PIA of recentering them kind of kills the deal.

You would be correct on the 8-lug D44.

I'd love to have a D60, you happen to have a spare one you'd let go? I could probably give you 200 bucks for it shipped :haha:

edit: so if I got a DRW D60 front, I could run stock H1's in the front and 2" spacers in the rear? (I have a SRW 14BFF in there now)
