Ever use the rear on the front. I realize it would take some work to make them look good but the rear appears to have you cut more out. Main thing I am worried about it them lining up on the body line. I have different plans for the marker light.

I want to run them on my Jimmy for two reasons. I want to be totally street legal, and I get tired of running down a muddy road and not being able to see out the side windows.

I want to run 37s but with only a 6" lift (its old probably closer to a 4" lift now). I also want it too look very good, while some of the trim jobs on here look awesome the goal of this truck is quite a bit different than a big time hard core wheeler

I have used them before, never put the back ones up front before. But they still cut out a good amount of fender either way. I was running 33's on a 79 bronco, (I know its a bad word) with a 4" lift, through the flares on and cleared 36x15.5 SSR's. So I think you could clear 37's.

According to the instructions they cut an inch off the both sides. To run the 37s I eventually want to run I will need to cut a little more than that.

I have thought about modifying the flare on the lower edge to cut a bit more out but with all the cracking problems I am not sure I want to do that.

Wow never say never. I used to say I really liked those flares but would NEVER run them on any truck of mine.

Guess my goals have changed on this truck from other trucks I have owned

I have 35's and a 6" all spring lift with factory fender openings. It looks to me like I could easily go to 37's and not rub. The normal cutout fronts should have no problem I would think.

Not usually, if you have your swaybar off unless you limit uptravel, it also depends on the lift. My springs say 6" but compared to a brand new 6" lift I was a solid 1.75"s lower than he was when you disregard the tire height difference and he rubbed just a bit with 36x12.5 swamper SXs.

While I don't plan to rockcrawl this truck it will still be used on trails and I don't want to be limited to very mild trails. Some of our trails around here are actually kind of rough due to erosion.

Also I have mods in mind to help with a bit more flex up front, so while I could probably run them with my current lift as a mallcrawler and the fact I want the truck to look like a mallcrawler. It will not be a mallcrawler

This idea has come up a few times before. It really can't be done. Once you hold the flares up to the truck it's obvious that it will never work. Yes, they are plastic and somewhat flexible, but like the manufacturer says - they are custom molded to the fender. The biggest problem with the Chevy rears is that they aren't as tall as the fronts. Behind the wheel is shorter than in front and neither side matches either side of the front wheel opening.

By the time you cut and sectioned your fenders to make this work, you could do *anything* with them - so why bother with plastic flares at all?

The only solution I can think of is to cut the front flare in half right at the top of the wheel opening and piece in 2-3 more inches. If you could get some broken flares, they could be used for this material. I don't think you could cheat the sides of the flares more than an inch or two forward and back, but as you know, every inch makes a difference.

The standard Bushwacker cut-out gets you 2 extra inches in each direction, which should translate to room for a tire 4 inches bigger (assuming the same width, etc.). It's not enough for 44's, but for 37s maybe you are worrying about it for nothing.

The 70's fenders have smaller stock openings than the 80s fenders. The flare is the same for both, so you cut 2" on each side for 70s and 1" on each side for 80s. I thought from your pic it was a 70s rig, but realized you are talking about doing this on an 80s truck. Sorry.

Its for the 89 Jimmy that I just picked up.

I have had issues with, I guess police that are bored, in the past.

Besides this is a trail truck that I will actually be careful with.

Thanks for the info, this puts me on the right direction then.
