Those with ONLY 4" of lift, what size tire you running???

I've got a 1974 K5. I am planning to run 37's or 38's on my 4" suspension lift with some fender cutting. I keep getting conflicting reports as well as downright insults telling me i'm stupid for wanting to run that setup. I guess they don't understand the whole center of gravity argument.

Especially since I don't have my cage installed yet, I don't want to role the truck if i'm running w/out the top.

So if you have only 4" of lift, tell me what you got! :D
 
b4 i added more lift, i had 4" and 35x12.50s, i would rub a lil bit when flexed out. with clean fender trim, 37x14.50 look really good. there quite a few people on here with that or similar set up.
 
You can run 37'38 inch tires with 4 inch lift and fender cutting any day of the week. It just depends on how much cutting you wanna do. I would suggest moving the front axle forward to keep the tires out of the firewall while flexing. Good luck with your set up.

i run 32's on my K10 with a 4" lift and it has plenty of tire for the lift..........37/38's would look real funny on my truck.

I hope you got Dana 60's to go with those big wheels.. :bow:
 
37 1250 with plenty of trimming.

i ran 35 1250's for a short while and rubbed those pulling out of my driveway and of course offroad.
 
I'm gonna bring my truck down a couple of inches this winter which will set me at ~4" with 39.5" boggers. I'll have to trim more and pound the firewall but it's doable.

EDIT: I forgot to say that the front axle is moved 1.5" forward and when I bring it down a little the axle will be moved another .5" to 2.5" forward, depending on what works.

Dont let anyone tell you that your plan is not feasible. I run 4" bds front springs and stock rears with a shackle flip....and I run 37" mt/r's. It rubbed while pulling into my driveway until I trimmed it. Now that its trimmed, it doesnt hit at all. You might have to trim some of the inner fender and pound it back with a sawzall, but it definitely works. While your at it, buy some zero rates for the front and rear. They will add 1" of lift, and you can move your axle forwards or baskwards with them. They work really well. Especially in your case when you dont want to rub. Move the front axle forward 1" with them, and youll be better off.

4" rough country & 35X15.50 TSX's = very little rub at the front fender, rear corners. And that's with it flexed out. FIWI

Thanks for all the replies guys. The truck is not my daily driver. So I can go a little crazy with it, but I just don't want a SUPER amount of lift.

I have a buddy who's got a 2000 Dodge Ram with 15" of lift on 42s. He was the one who convinced me to stay low. He said he can't take it on a lot of trails cuz it's so big.

As of right now I'm debating between 37x13" and 38.5x11" Boggers. I know the 38.5 is probably pushing it. But it's skinnier and should help with clearance.

Basically the truck is for mud, trails and dirt. I don't like rocks cuz it's so hard of EVERYTHING. I plan on running my D44 until it breaks then getting my D60. I"m not sure how long the 12 bolt will hold up in the rear, but we'll see.
 
I run 37" MTRs with 4" of lift. I have a fair amount of trimming though. I still rub the inner fenderwells when I stuff the frontend hard. They work fine though.

37" MTR's are only about 35.5" true height though.

i will be running 4 in lift, 1 in body, 38 15-50 16's and masive triming has been done allready.
 
4" Tuff country in front, 57" f*rd springs rear with shackle flip.....39.5" Iroks.
Minor fender cutting ;)
 
I run a 4" with 35s and fender trimming but i plan on moving to 38s. But i'll probably have to trim more to allow for more room under flex. :D
 
4" lift that is sagged (12 years old) and a 1" body lift. 39.5 x 15 x 15's

I run 4" TC front springs in the stock location and stock rear springs on a 4" shackle flip in the rear with 13/38-16 TSL's. Prior to the 38's I ran 35x12.50's on the same lift.

With the swaybar disconnected the 35's required a small/moderate amount of trimming for off-road use but they never rubbed afterwards. After installing the 38's I couldn't even turn the wheel to full lock on flat ground without rubbing. The front fenders required trimming of the rear section of the inner fenderwells and pounding the firewall seam flat, but they still lightly rub on occassion. The front edge of the front fenders also required trimming.
