that is a good idea
Where did you get the piece circled in red, did you buy it somewhere or make it?
So you are giving the field full current by removing the insulation from the screw to bypass the regulator and then using just 2/3rds of the stator? I assume one of the lines that used to go to the diode trio is routed to the output terminal and another one is tied to the case, but I didn't see how that was implemented.
I have heard of this trick many years ago, but I've never seen one actually built.
Yeah what he said. I don't exactly understand what all was done on reassembly. I little more detail on that would be great! BTW why do you have to reverse rotation on your own rig? Also is your motor running off LP?
Whoever did that write up is the shiznit, very detailed and precise...Oh wait I did the write up...SWEET!

That is a 12SI alt. The older ones are a 10SI (stamped steel fan like the charging alt. he runs) but the 12SI had better cooling and higher amperage ratings (110A).
Does a regular stick welder have this much voltage on the leads?I put a volt meter between the leads and it registered 115volts.
Do you mean reverse polarity? I have the same question.BTW why do you have to reverse rotation on your own rig?
Do you mean reverse polarity? I have the same question.
Yeah that was what I meant! DOH!just a thought,,but any idea of how much HP it would take to drive this with a small gas engine ?? 5 hp ??
thinking portable here .....
